Joe Schad says Lord Merlin is UT bound. You know, he's been spot on every other time.

i hope so.....i wouldnt mind hud stepping in. mullen is a chalk coach.....wins the ones we are supposed to and loses the ones we are supposed to . its great for consistency, but we pretty much know what to expect now when vegas gives the odds. he might have 2 or 3 upsets with 2 or 3 wtf games as well.....so its great from a consistency perspective, but pretty bland from every other aspect. bring on hud. at this point, im relegated to watching the expansion more than the team. next year will be tough, but its pretty evident that we need some new blood. i hate that we turned a spread offense into a tradition offense the way we did. we are no longer a spread team guys.......its a sad realization.

Merlin brought in the "Bulldog Creed" which is "I will always give relentless effort." and for three years we did. Even though we were usually outmatched we always did. One of my proudest moments as an MSU was was during the UF game his first year when it was late and the game was really decided, all of our starters were still out there playing as hard as they could, crashing in on Tebow and hitting him every chance they had. Running as hard as they could out in front of Banks getting any possible block they could for him on those pick-6's. Also the LSU game that year, a lot of people forget we were down really quickly like 14-0 or 17-0. Everyone remembers the goal line, but forget how hard they fought to get back into that game, and I think even take a late lead at one point. I remember we needed a stop on defense and there was a timeout and Merlin had all the players on defense jumping up and down in a huddle going crazy, and then Merlin started running up and down the sideline a la Tim Tebow vs. FSU in the rain flapping his arms like a mad man. We got them to go three and out with three of the biggest hits I have seen as an MSU fan.
I understand understand elite teams like Alabama and LSU and UF don't play with that kind of fire all the time, but shit, Merlin didn't get the guys revved up for a single game. No vroom maroon this year. I love Merlin and what he has done for MSU, I hope losing the Egg makes his reflect and get back to his roots, because that is how we are going to make the jump from 3-5 and 4-4 in conference to 5-3 and 6-2. Merlin can lead us to being a great program, he just needs to abide by his own creed.

I dunno. I think part of that is that Tyler isn't really a QB to run the option that Mullen likes, so the offense has been adjusted to suit him. I'm sure we'll get more back to Mullen's spread option roots when it's Dak's time to take the reigns.
And I'm not ready to say it's time to get rid of Mullen at all. If we keep losing momentum and we're in danger of really losing everything we've built up, then sure, but right now, I think we've just hit a bump in the road. Building a program like MSU up into something more isn't going to happen overnight, and it's not gonna come without some heartache like we got last night. At least that's what I think anyway. If he moves on, I'm sure we can find someone to step in and keep improving on the foundation he's laid.
Mullen definitely needs to make some changes in the offseason, though. Wilson needs to go. Wouldn't be upset if Koenig went with him. Need someone that's aggressive and fiery like Mullen can be--and like Brewster is--especially on defense. This soft crap from our D all year has driven me crazy.
But I think the offseason will tell us a little bit about Mullen, if he decides to make some changes or not. I still think he can be great for us, but that fire's gotta come back. I've said before, I'm not as longtime a MSU fan as a lot of you, since I really didn't start keeping up intensely until I got to school, which was Mullen's first year. I've seen us get blasted and beat before because we couldn't compete, but I've never seen us just lay down and take it. We did several times this year, and capped the season off by doing it for our rival. That has to end.

It is amazing how quickly people go from praising their coaches to wanting them fired. At the beginning of the season everyone was like, "All hail Lord Merlin." Now they want him gone. Same thing with UGA and Richt. They wanted him gone after their one loss but they are in the SEC championship game and are 1 win away from the National Championship.

It is readily apparent to everyone that some form of change is necessary.
(And don't worry, I won't be posting in y'all's section much anymore, but felt compelled to post this.)

I don't think anyone reasonable wants Mullen gone. Just want him to get back to his roots.

Acually, I kind of hoe we do get a new guy. Mullen has proven we will never be anything but .500 with him here.....tops. OM got Feeze who is a MIssissippi boy and bleeds REd and Blue. I want that in Hud, and he's ours when ever we want him. Hud would be a version of Freeze for us, I think.

I don't want Merlin to leave. I want to give him everything he wants and needs to be successful here. Next year is the last year we will have any Crxxm recruited players on the roster. I really hate that Merlin isn't creative enough on offense to adapt to TR's skill set, but since he can't we may as well put the runner in because Perkins up the middle just doesn't work without the threat of the QB pulling it back and running.

nobody wants mullen fired....but the two main assistants HAVE to go. they are just not very good at their jobs and its hurting everywhere. i want some fire and enthusiasm back. im just saying i wouldnt lose any sleep if mullen was to find another job since we have a capable replacement waiting in the wings. i wouldnt mind mullen staying forever turning in 7-9 wins every year, we need that kind of stability, but EVERYONE in the sec west is upgrading and if we dont stay on top of the situation we will go by way of the dinosaur.
im sick of a soft defense....at least in our bad years, we would knock the shit out of you. because of russells talents or lack there of in certain areas, our offense went in a totally different direction and when russell has an off night, we are screwed because we dont know what to do because its like pulling teeth running a spread attack with a qb who cant run the ball.

Who's idea was it to go for it on 4th in the second quarter? I know Devon Bell's not that bad.

And to call that stupid jump pass, no less? If you wanna go for it with Dak, have the big guy plow for that yard. But... that?
That was one of the more baffling moments to me
