Regardless of how you feel, there are a growing number of states and people discussing this. Even if you feel as though it's not going to happen, with the sheer number that grows each day, it's not something that anyone can ignore. Now that the Federal Government is growing and becoming more intrusive, it's only a matter of time....

Given the overstepping of the Federal Government, I truly think it's inevitable.
I also think that the Federal Government knows this is coming.....

“We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms -- to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way.”

I don't care what you don't like about Obama, he will not sign the disarmament of citizens treaty. If he does that, there are many troops themselves that will turn against the Government, creating a very unstable military. Kind of hard to give troops orders that a large number would have no interest of carrying out themselves. Furthermore, the Supreme Court would strike it down ruling it Unconstitutional.
It will ultimately be Obama's downfall, not the United States'. And he is too giddy about being a President and would likely not want to take an early departure.
Now, States seceding for other reasons could possibly happen, but I really don't see enough motivation and way too much verbal complaining yet movement apathy for it to actually happen.

I dont think either side has the will to do it right now. Am amilicable split would solve and create a unique set of issues. Asimple 2 way split wouldnt work but a 3-4 way split might.

In this hypothetical situation....the southern states would not come out well imo. I think splitting this country up would be a horrible idea. unless we somehow split and became like...a stronger version of the EU...which is what the US was supposed to be in the first place.

A surprising number of officers would just follow orders. And the military isnt what it once was. I honesty think if Obama said we are either going to have a new ban much harsher than clintons or the UN treaty the gun lobby would cave. The senate ratifies treaties if I remember correctly. That made sense when the Senate was the represention for the States.

I'd love to live in the Republic of Texas but this isn't going to happen. Not for a long time anyway.

Officers, the ones who haven't had combat training in 10 or more years, don't think that would end well when they are outnumbered massively by soldiers turning against them. I'm not sure about the senate approving treaties as I am no political science guru by any means, but I do know that the Supreme court has to make sure every bill that is to be passed cannot be Unconstitutional, I'm not sure how approval for a treaty that would affect American rights would be able to be loop-holed around the USSC.
In the end, the military would literally be out of control and no President of this country could afford that to happen to themselves. IMO

See what I mean? The GOP base will accept nothing but his impeachment, imprisonment and execution
You offer a position with little power and a scandal hanging on it and are surprised when I passed?
You want to make me happy? Fire the czars, all of them. When he appoints his next 2 SC justices go a southern conservative and a moderate pro gun person. Issue a statement in support of the right to keep and bare arms. Put out a votable budget for the executive branch.
Do that instead of a hollow token and we can talk.
