chris wilson has always ridden a razors edge in terms of his defenses. hes done just enough to where i and others say nothing because he mostly has been a bend but not break type coach....well...i think its safe to say we are breaking and his future is on rocky ground.
also, our offense continued to be unimaginative. sigh....we are m-state. oh well, two very winnable games left and we still got a shot at 10 wins this season. i exude greats amount of meh right now.

Look what the 17 did you people expect to beat LSU and Bama? And on top of that we NOW realize that aTm is pretty damned good! Did it ever don on ya'll that these teams are just FLAT OUT BETTER? Better coaches and better players? LSU is the most talented team in the nation BAR NONE (yes even more than Bama) it's just that Bama has better coaching. This game came down to the missed blocks off the edge. Do you have any idea how hard ot is to block a player like Mingo? At the same time we were completely without LdP. Our running game wasn't there because they would be in cover 0 to stop it. I'm gonna be honest with you this is the best I have seen the offensive line play since going to Gainsville a few yrs ago. And that was run blocking it's actually HARDER to pass block (as we did tonight) for 4 qtrs like we did. If you'd have told me yesterday that we were in a nip tuck game with THAT defensive line and Tyler stayed upright throughout the game.......I'd have called you a damned liar! Defensively this is what you people were clamoring for right? Man-to-man coverage using our "strength"? Right? Load the box and say "we're gonna leave JB and Slay on that island" Right? There's a reason we stayed in cover 3 and cover 2 most of the year. Maybe because we JUST AREN'T THAT GOOD in man coverage. Am I happy with the result...NO. We lost. Am I pissed? No, I didn't expect us to beat LSU. If you did go ahead and take another step off that "cliff" you are on right now. It's absurd and idiotic to think we were going to beat LSU tonight. We were competitive, that's what you wanted according to your posts. The score of the game wasn't indicative of the game. With what I saw today there isn't ANY reason to think we can't be 9-3 with the effort I saw tonight.
Stole this from SPS. It pretty much sums up how I feel right now. You are right. Wilson has to do something, though. I loved the fact that the team never quit. The o line played out of its mind. Tyler had a helluva night right up to the end. I have no doubt that we can beat Arkansas and Ole Miss to close this season.

russell holds on to the ball WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too long. hes like dropping back, sets up a folding chair, mixes a nice cocktail, pets the dog, whips out the news paper, lights his pipe, then remembers that he has a gaggle of 300 pound grown ass men trying to knock his sternum through his backbone.

No doubt LSU is a better team but the way we schemed on defense leaves a lot to be desired. My 6 year old niece could draw up better formations for our D.
Also our redzone O sucks a big schlong.

Our offense did all we could have asked of them mInus the fumble and late pick. Our OL blocked as good as they have all year.... Until late in the 4th when siddoway was out of gas. If our defense matches our offensive execution we win this game. I'm obviously not as pissed as the last 2 games, but Wilson continues to build his exit résumé.

Excellent post. I'm way more ok with last night rather than the past 2 weeks. We can beat Arky and be in a shoot out with OM.

That D is no joke indeed, but we should've scored in the red zone at the end of the game.. instead that was a pick six and a 14 point swing. Went from being 30-24 to 37-17.
We played a decent game.. just too many mistakes and our defensive formations are just retarded. We could've easily stopped LSU's second TD and held them to a FG if our DC had a clue. We have perhaps the best duo of corners in the SEC and we insist on playing soft zone.

MSU reminds me of UT late in the Phil era. A really good, solid team that can't hang with the elite

We're a hell of a long way from the Croom era which is great, but we seriously should not be this outmatched by the elite teams. All these games have shown a coaching deficiency.
Oh well, if we beat Arky, everyone will be back on board to band together against Ole Miss. Win that one, that all will be forgiven for another year.
