im ready for legalized pot. im ready for the tax revenue that can be generated. im ready to stop filling our jails with non violent criminals. if you want people to stop selling pot, sell it in stores. set the minimum age to 18 and figure out how to enforce laws against driving while impaired.
i have an idea..... legalize pot nationwide, sell it in smoke shops and tax it. take the tax revenue and pay for healthcare for everyone. give is effective tort reform and allow insurance companies to compete across state lines and viola.... unfortunately the sad reality is any tax revenue generated from it would go to the military and we would not be 1 penny to the better with our debt.

here in colorado there was supposed to be a mandatory tax of 15% and the first $40 mil in tax revenues annually would go to k-12. i guess the bill writer was high bc he
ed up the wording and that section got thrown out. the state legislation will now have to work that part out again. assuming the state of CO doesnt screw up the process and the feds arent bitchy assholes, there should be weedstores open to the public (21+) next summer. SCORE.

So it was voted yes, but was it passed? Haven't been paying attention. Doesn't federal supersede all state laws?

yes. the governor is required by law to sign and ratify the bill in the next 30 days. the verbiage leaves a lot still to be determined, but wholesale grow operations, wholesale distribution, and retail stores will all be legal, as will the possession of up to an ounce for recreational purposes.
smoking in public and driving while intoxicated are still illegal.
here is the verbiage for any law nerds:

I'll be interested to see how the being high and driving will be enforced. Some people can be baked driving and the cop would never know. They are going to have to come up with a whole new system, because the blood levels of THC don't exactly determine if you are high or not.

That sounds pretty darn good to me. Do people take the military forgranted?
