LEGENDARY

BIRMINGHAM-An official statement has been released this morning from the offices of the Southeastern Conference in Birmingham, Alabama. Commissioner Mike Slive has informed the presidents of the University of Missouri and Texas A&M University that they are being released from the SEC, effective July 1, 2013, on the one year anniversary of their induction. "We have made mistakes in the past, and it is time for us to start owning up to certain mistakes," said the commissioner. "What was once thought to be a great fit to the conference has turned out a disappointment. We are cutting all ties to both Missouri and Texas A&M and renewing our search for schools that work within the SEC." Slive did not comment on what schools he was considering, or what each school lacked that caused the sudden departures.

Coaches from around the league were asked for comments-

Mark Richt: "It was a pleasure, albeit short, to have two new additions to the league, and I wish them both luck in their future endeavors."
Nick Saban: "I'm sure you all want me to quote on the two teams leaving the SEC, but my job is to focus one week at a time, making sure my team is doing the things we have to do to succeed, to play at the level our guys are capable of playing."
Joker Phillips: "Really? I mean, at least this year with Missouri we had a shot of not being the least relevant. Damn."
Les Miles: "I certainly understand the interest surrounding what seems to be news. I am not reactionary to needs of media and things external to this building."

Other members of the media chimed in on this issue as well. Mike Greenberg of Mike and Mike in the Morning commented on the short tenure of both teams, in what has been an "unprecedented set of circumstances for college football." Erik Ainge of the Erik Ainge Radio Show discussed the news on his show: "I hear Kevin Sumlin often gets confused with blues legend Hubert Sumlin. I can certainly relate. People, please, I am not Danny Ainge!"

Texas A&M and Missouri will both finish the remainder of their schedules for 2012, but their 2013 schedules are uncertain as of yet.

I don't know whether or not I should high five this. I don't like the idea of Mizzou being kicked out of the SEC but there was some funny stuff especially the Danny Ainge joke. Make this go viral.

You should have made this one, Bama being scheduled to play an NFL team.

Ainge just called you a butthead.
"Whenever I see those crimson jerseys and crimson helmets, I feel humbled to have played football for Alabama. Other players in the NFL talk to me about their schools and their traditions. I just smile knowing the immense love Alabama fans have for our school and its football program. I'm proud to be a part of that Crimson Tide heritage."
