I'd like to take a moment to say that while I'm pleased with the Upton acquisition, the St. Louis Cardinals can still :lanekiffin: off.

That is all, carry on.
If youre ever in the STL for a Braves-Cards game... Let me know... We will get a beer or 8.

Frank Wren has assembled a 2013 team that has:
  • The best bullpen in the National League
  • A top 2 or 3 lineup (in the NL)
  • A top 5 or 6 pitching rotation (in the NL)
  • A "solid" bench
...and we managed to do it while still holding on to Julio Teheran & JR Graham, holding onto Simmons...and coming away with enough money to be used towards either a mid/offseason acquisition at third base/catcher for next year's team...AND giving us the flexibility - through the Prado trade - to lock up some of our young stars like Heyward and Freeman.

Overall, this has been a very successful offseason, imo. I think the Braves might have the most well-rounded team in the National League, and I do NOT say that often. Aside from nitpicky things like a high number of Ks and no proven "leadoff" hitter , or "true No. 1 ace", etc...this team has very few weaknesses/holes.

I was going 8 as well haha...

Look at it this way... NOBODY was going to beat the Giants anyway. Looking back at SF has me thinking... "Damn... That was a great team!"

IS MCD OK?!?

I am going to miss the Prado commercial. I was ecstatic, then when I saw Prado I nearly cried. But I think this will be good for him. I feel like Arizona will appreciate the hell out of him in ways that the Atlanta clubhouse never could. He will be their team leader, and well respected. I am happy for him..... I just hope he doesn't screw up my respect by signing with the damn Yankees or Red Sox if he has an outstanding year.

Here's a fun game...

Guess Justin Upton's jersey number.

Something tells me he won't be wearing 10.

Welp, I'm a day late...I heard this on the radio yesterday and couldn't believe it. Finally made it to my comp for a while to throw in my two cents.

I was immediately pissed of course, but the more I read and hear...it's baseball common sense fellas. We have to wait and see, as this isn't a complete team. We all can see it or think it, no true lead-off or ace on the staff, and a possible lack of leadership. Overall though, I'm pretty happy with the moves so far, Wren never fails to make solid SMART moves.

Going to miss you Prado, that's for damn sure. Offering hugs MCD, I know it's not the same...but bring it in here bro.

Can one of you offer up your wife/girlfriend as a surrogate to Prado so we can manage to keep just a little piece of Prado with us for the next 18 years?

I think Medlen offered the best sentiments on the Prado trade the other days, "the trade is bittersweet. Everybody has a man crush on that guy(Prado)"

And it's quite true. I've never heard one person say a bad thing about the guy.

Man crush is the best way to put it, he was a hugger and people like that get to you. Clearly a very cool dude who everyone got along with, but business is sadly business at times.

I'm excited about the season at this point. I wanna see Simmons finally healthy and ready to go, but I'm going to have to claim one of the Uptons for the AV. I'll take Justin if someone already has BJ.

Unless I missed something also, Teheran has that 5th spot wrapped up until Beachy comes back. Even then Beachy may pitch out of the BP for a little while, but we've got some guys who really need to step up. With all the strikeouts up and down the lineup, I'm interested to see our approach at the plate with all this power/speed.
