University of Kentucky senior center Matt Smith was honored recently as one of the best and brightest student-athletes on the college gridiron as he was selected as a candidate for the 2012 National Football Foundation National Scholar-Athlete Awards and a semifinalist for the 2012 William V. Campbell Trophy, which recognizes an individual as the best football scholar-athlete in the nation.
