Under any other circumstances it would be a bannable offense to start a basketball thread right now.

BUT...

Sindarius Thornwell, the #40 recruit in the country according to Rivals, has committed to Frank Martin's Gamecocks!

I know absolutely nothing about his game, but he chose us over NC State and Ohio State.

Good to see he could take time away from his epic adventures on Middle Earth to moonlight in Columbia.

The real question is, can he tackle or catch a football?
I'll just regress, because I feel I've made myself perfectly redundant.

well, that proves my theory that it's absolutely impossible to get any type of "nb4-insert UK fan joke here" in a basketball thread

Honestly don't know anything about him, but #40 recruit in the nation has to count for a lot. And hopefully this jumpstarts a big recruiting class for Coach Martin and Co.

This is a massive pick up. This guy was at the top of Martin's list. This is a guy that could be like Gilmore was for us in football. Big time in state prospect that could almost pick his school. This could lead to even bigger and better players over the next two recruiting classes.
