First national playoff finale in 2015 limited to 6 bid cities, sources say - ESPN
To expedite the process in choosing the site of the national title game on Jan. 12, 2015 that will crown the champion of the Football Bowl Subdivision's first playoff, only six cities will be considered, sources told ESPN on Monday.
The four current BCS bowls -- the Fiesta in Glendale, Ariz., Orange in Miami, Sugar in New Orleans and Rose in Pasadena, Calif. -- along with the Cotton (Arlington, Texas) and Chick-fil-A (Atlanta) bowls will be the only sites that will have the opportunity to host the 2015 title game.
The BCS commissioners originally planned to open the bidding to any city interested in submitting a request for proposal for the title game. But considering the challenges involved with hosting the game, and because it is only 28 months away, the commissioners felt the need to move quickly on naming the site.
A decision is expected to be announced early next year.
For all other future national championship games, requests will be submitted allowing any city to bid for the contest -- the same way that cities bid for the NFL's Super Bowl.
Besides the six cities already named, other cities expected to be interested include Indianapolis, Detroit, St. Louis, Orlando, Fla., Houston, San Diego, Jacksonville, Fla., and Tampa, Fla.

It would seem fitting to have it in Atlanta, seeing as how the city has basically become the college football capital of the world.

Detroit?!?! Wouldn't it be funny for Georgia or someone else like Miss State to finally play for the BCS MNC and the game be in Detroit? Someone ought to make one of those Unlucky Brian memes....

Shit I wouldn't care if the game was in Pyongyang if State was playing in it.
We are M-State.

I definitely agree that Atlanta would be the most logical choice... The SEC is going to send someone every single anyway so we may as well make the first title game centrally located.
I kept failing a math test at the University of Alabama because every time I added 5+3 I got 8 and they kept insisting that the right answer was 14.

Isn't the college football hall of fame in ATL? Or moving there soon?
Also, I'm okay with any site except West Coast. Too expensive to fly and stay out there for one game.

I really wish it was still called the Peach Bowl.
I could see it being between Atlanta or New Orleans.

Yeah moving there(or already there) from Indiana.

If Atlanta would have moved forward with the new Falcons stadium already, they'd be a lock to get it. Sadly, they haven't, so expect Jerry World to get it.

I can say from experience that the Fiesta bowls sucks. Everything is so spread out around the city, and the stadium is meh. Plus it don't hold that many people.

I feel like it should be a centrally located game. It's hard for fans in the Pacific Northwest to travel to places like Miami and Atlanta.
I do like having it at different locations though and I wish they would play more in the elements. Football was not meant to be played in a climate controlled dome or in a city that has consistent 70-80 degree temps and sunshine

I don't get it. The GA dome isn't old. Why the need for a new one?
Granted I've never been to the GA dome so it may be a shit hole

I don't think that matters. College football fans will travel anywhere in the country if their team is playing for the national title, just the same as fans in the NFL will for a Super Bowl. Hell, the locations for the NC now are already pre-determined, consideration for the participating teams' fan bases not being a part of the process.
