Obama has done neither and added 6 Trillion to the debt. Obviously it hasnt worked.  Do you really not get if you increase taxes on the wealthy that money will only last Obama and friends 8 days before they piss threw all of it? It will not help the problem one bit

Quit deflecting and answer the question.  Have you ever voluntarily paid more in taxes than you were legally required to?

Let me just go ahead and bet my money on NO, that you've never paid one dime more than you had to.

I'm not running for president as a 'man of the people' who has laid off lots of American workers and hides money offshore to keep his tax revenues safe to buy new homes and yachts.

Now, answer my question: why is it OK for the rich to dodge taxes but not the poor?

I know that there are ways to cheat on my taxes and get away with it, yet I choose not to do them, does that count.

I didn't say anything about expanding spending of any type. Look, the only way to actually get this economy going again is to put more real money into it. the only way to do that is in encourage investment and allow people to keep more of their money. It's a simple fact of life that when people have more money and there are tax incentives in place to encourage spending, then the economy grows.

As for the debt, the only answer to solving that problem is massive spending cuts. There is simply not enough money out there for the government to take that would come close to paying it down with the current spending levels.

I am afraid that Obama will win this election.

  1. This country simply has too many people on the government handout list.
  2. There are more uneducated voters in the US than ever before.
  3. There are too many people in this country that want the government to take care of them and their problems. It is much easier than thinking for ourselves and working diligently.

Bingo.  Bingo bingo bingo.  Couple of thoughts I ran across/witnessed last night.

Firstly.... thank my generation and those younger than me for playing follow the leader rather than make their own rational decisions.  I saw more ignorant, uneducated posts from peers on Twitter and Facebook about the DNC last night than I have ever seen before and that counts the RNC, last election, gay marriage proclamation etc etc... I applaud libs and cons alike on here that are adamant supporters of their opinions and should be applauded for making rational decisions theirselves.  But it's really an epidemic now and any folks my age or younger can tell you that half of this voting bloc is very uninformed and has a bad case of doing whatever is "hip" or portrayed that way... whether it be lib or con.  And I'm sure that's been the case throughout history as well....

Secondly, to add to the entitlement theme.... read a post from a friend in New Orleans on Facebook last night.  He just got power on and they've been doing some cleanup etc etc... He said he was out at the store getting some supplies when he heard a woman complaining about having to walk a block up the street to receive the FREE, CLEAN water and ice that was being delivered to them at a central location in the neighborhood.

Now, it doesn't seem like much, but attitudes like that make my blood boil.  I wish I could find the news article about the woman in NOLA a few years ago that lived in Section 8 housing that was complaining that her BIG SCREEN TV that was given to her by the govt wasn't new enough or as big as some of the folks outside the projects.

Not to mention there are 46.7 million people on food stamps.

Original Image: <a href='http://www.trivisonno.com/wp-content/uploads/Food-Stamps-Monthly2.jpg' class='bbc_url' title='External link' rel='external'>http://www.trivisonn...ps-Monthly2.jpg</a>

I'm not saying cut all welfare programs, but I think it's time they are THOROUGHLY re-examined for qualifications and cut the unnecessary parts.  I'm sorry... having a big screen TV is not a necessity and the faster than the welfare leeches realize the difference between necessity and luxury the better off we will be.

Heck, a vast majority of the country could use a lesson in the diff. between necessity and luxury... Or rather inside their means.

How is he dodging taxes by following the law as written?  If a poor person uses any of the 10,000 tax credits or exemptions or anything else to lower their tax burden, are they dodging taxes?  No.

And all this is a deflection from the fact that the tax code is broken by discouraging people from bringing money back into the US.  If we had a sensible policy like every other modern western nation, more people would bring more money back to the US and spend it here.  Instead it makes more sense to keep it overseas and spend it there.

And the "oh god he laid of workers" meme is tired to the extreme.  When businesses don't perform, they get shut down.  We'd all really be up shit creek if that wasn't the case, with piles of people in worthless jobs doing unproductive work...

One of the richest men in these parts is David Siegel who lives in nearby Isleworth, founder and CEO of Westgate Resorts.  His businesses (which include 27 resort properties around the world) have created thousands of jobs and support thousands of families.  The purchasing pursuant to the operation of these resort properties (timeshares) give support to a myriad of small businesses, including suppliers, service companies, and the like, again, creating thousands of jobs and supporting thousands of families.  So you're saying, let the government take more of Siegel's money and use it in their welfare programs, etc.  Poppycock!  How frickin' stupid can people be??

Cheating on taxes is not what I'm talking about.  For anybody questioning a tax avoidance strategy, be it an offshore account or whatever, Do you ever voluntarily pay more in taxes than legally required to?  I don't.  I don't know anybody that does.  People take the reductions they're legally entitled to.  A couple states have an option to voluntarily pay a higher tax rate, but from the info I can find, nobody has ever paid those higher rates.

I mean it really is a funny thing that people expect rich folks to just voluntarily hand over more money to the gov't when they don't do it themselves...

How about we just stop throwing money away with NASA. Yeah ok it's cool when we are banking, but do we really give a shit about if there was ice on mars two million years ago?

You know NASA only gets 18.4 billion dollars a year right? That is a complete non-factor and cutting that already extremely low number will do nothing for the debt but will detract a ton from the field of science.
