SOS started telling his QBs to slide head first with Garcia. He notice to just about always gives them an extra yard or two.  I don't think he will tell Connor to switch it up.

Yep, he brought that up when Garcia got rung up during the 1st AU game in 2010, if not before that one (perhaps during the season-opener vs USM). Garcia wasn't sliding AT ALL, but was taking on whoever was hitting him like a RB. Spurrier stated that he doesn't necessarily tell his QBs to slide feet first, but he definitely doesn't want them to take on tacklers. It doesn't matter if you slide feet first or head first, if a defender is going to come in after you're on the ground and knee you in the back or head or ribs. You may get some penalty yards out of it, but your QB will still be hurt like Shaw is...

I think the idea with Connor was that with the (supposedly) deeper RB corps, he wanted less carries from him and more from those guys, and he wanted more passing. The RB depth (esp. with a healthy Lattimore) should be enough to produce the run game we wanted, and Connor would take less of a beating every game PLUS our passing game would hopefully be better.

Then we lose Carson for the season, Wilds gets injured before the game and can't play, and then Miles is injured during the game and is not a factor. We struggle with our pass blocking and Connor opts to run on some plays that he should've passed. So we end up going opposite of the mindset the coaches want for Shaw...

Miles should be ready to go for ECU, and hopefully even Wilds may be able to play some. Even if Shell isn't able to play vs ECU (I haven't heard anything that says he won't), IMO both Matulis and Gibson should be capable of holding down the tackle jobs versus a team like ECU. The game will be our home-opener, and the unveiling of our new video-board, and the atmosphere should pump our team up. After them we have another home game versus Alabama-Birmingham, so we have some time to fix some things. Hopefully we do....

I dont get the "Vanderbilt is has an undersized DLine compared to other SEC teams" like he has never seen any other SEC Defensive line.. You guys do realize he played against SEC teams last year, correct?
