Birmingham, AL. I don't know how to find this info but WJOX here in Birmingham said we got a 16 something per ESPN. I don't know how the populations compare, but I just found it interesting that it wasn't Columbia, SC.

Well, B'ham has almost twice the population... But yea, you'd expect a bit more enthusiasm there.

I think it is more of a testament to the passion for CFB in this state than an indictment against the fans of USC.
True. Soon as we walked in the house after football practice I was running to turn on the TV like I was 6 yrs old and it was the Christmas morning. Am I Vandy or USC fan? Nope.

Yeah I actually went to sleep yesterday and woke up about 45 minutes after it started and I was thinking "Crap I hope I didn't miss too much!"
Don't feel bad. I didn't get home until there was like 4 or 5 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter.

Say what? There ain't 800,000 people in Richland County much less in the city of Columbia, SC. There are like 130,000+ people in Columbia...like 370,000+ in Richland County, according to Google. Then again I don't know what the "MSA" is unless you're talking about Parkinson's disease and such.
I would guess that a lot more folks in Columbia were watching the game at a party or at a buddy's house, so you'd have 15-20 people watching one TV instead of everyone chilling at home watching like everywhere else. That and watching the game at bars/bar&grill type places.

I personally mute the assholes on ESPN and then listen to Todd and Tommy.

It got a mid 5 in Nashville.
The sad part? A preseason titans game scored a 15. Not just any preseason game, the 4th preseason game full of scrubs.

I did some work in Cola a few years back. City population was a huge factor in what I had been doing. Cola is ALMOST as big as where I live (Bham).
Cola is basically the same size as Knoxville.
Columbia is the state capital and largest city in the U.S. state of South Carolina. The population was 129,272 according to the 2010 census. The 2011 United States Census Estimates put the city at 130,591. Columbia is the county seat of Richland County, but a portion of the city extends into neighboring Lexington County. The city is the center of a metropolitan statistical area of 767,598, the largest within the state. The name Columbia was a poetic term for the Americas derived from Christopher Columbus.
