Quick question, when applying for a job, do you answer this question truthfully or do you mark the selection "Prefer not to disclose this information at this time."
reason being, I am applying for a job right now and being that I am a white male, I often wonder if this could hurt me in the hiring process.

Check the box marked "other"...

Dunno. I usually check "prefer not to answer" because I don't want to be sifted out of the selections for interview because they already had too many white males interviewing.

Statistically speaking, being white and male is far more likely to help you than hurt you

I'm spoken for now; but back in the day I usually wrote in my answers to questions like that. For ethnicity, I wrote in "most" and for sex I wrote in "If I can talk them into it.".

checking the prefer not to say box just means your white anyway. Are you planning on wearing a mask to the interview?

I always check Latino, Asian, Native American Inuit female. That way I don't have to list any qualifications to get the job.

One thing to worry about....if you check "white", those black helicopters might come to get you.

This is far from a racial issue in my mind, but I would beg to differ in higher minority areas such as mine in West Alabama.
Everything is relative, but going on stats, being a white male is winning the gender/sex lottery. Clearly if you want to be a newscaster on BET or a kindergarten teacher however, a certain race or gender is generally preferred over others. But on the whole I doubt telling the truth about yourself is really going to hurt you here

Last application I made I told them I was a gay jewish Vietnamese woman. Explaining to them I was always told I could be whatever I wanted to be when I grew up was interesting....

I think the right question is, do you want to work for a company that will not hire you because you are white male?
Answer honestly. It's not like they aren't going to find out.

I really don't understand the use of the question since most companies advertise they don't discriminate. Hell, what is white? I'm scottish, english, french and indian. Mom was catholic dad was baptist. When i'm depressed I feel like I was an accident in the french and indian war that occured on a night somebody yelled hail mary in an underground bar.
