2. The Square
3. Great looking campus
4. Parties
5. Did I mention the sororstitutes?
Even as a State fan, I do admit that having lived here since 2009, it's a damn awesome place and you'll be hard pressed to find a better town.
Only real negative is a small percentage of the Frats d-bags. Most are ok, but the small percentage that I speak of is why most have the initial impression that all Oxonians have their noses stuck up in the air.

i will say this, this fall, i despised the campus....cold, gray, rainy, and horrendously overrated, but this spring has got me in a feel-good mood and the green grass and blue skies are warming me up a bit. still overrated though. the women may very well be better than states as well, but honestly, the average girl is not very attractive. come here on a football weekend and that changes dramatically, but apparently wearing no makeup and looking like a total slouch is fashionable where XL t-shirts and gym shorts are what most girls wear to class. still probably better than state though...but mstate girls are dont lag far behind as OUR STATE has its fair share of beautiful women whether bear or bulldog.
this thread should be fun.

I have to get to class a half hour before class to find a "decent" parking place.
Only 3 times during both semesters have I gotten a decent parking place like the area behind the Rebel Store and adjacent to VHS.
UM needs a parking garage like a heroin addict needs heroin.

I keep dropping these unbiased lines, because every post here is going to be bias.
Oxford is by far the best town in Mississippi, and it aint even close. It's upscale and not in poverty. You have the 19th century starring you in the face. It's a literary gold mine. Square Books. You have beautiful million dollar properties all over downtown. Great food, great bars, great people. Nielsons. The homemade ice cream sandwiches on the square. Sardis. The Ole Miss Golf Course is awesome. Lamar park is nice. Rowan Oak. Faulkner's woods is fun at midnight while drunk. The tunnels under the circle are cool. It's just a neat place and has a different feel than Mississippi.

But, on the flip side.... it's not the town I don't like about Oxford.... it's the students (totally no offense to those on here, ya'll are OK by me). It's the pseudo-aristocratic/elite attitude they have. Kinda like what FCN alluded to. And I was in a fraternity at State and even I agree with him, to an extent.

Whether bear, bulldog OR eagle. Southern has some fine womenz, too. Mississippi in general has many beautiful women.... anyone who visits here knows that.

I visited AU for the 1st time this past season....... Definitely a pretty campus and a very nice "flow" to it. Very spread out (and State is huge in itself..... AU is WAY spread out). All of the buildings seemed to match. But Auburn the town is par for the course for any SEC towns I've been to.

madison, ridgeland, southaven, bay st. louis, natchez, ocean springs all are better...common dawg. oxford has its own little hidden secrets...ever driven down jefferson davis dr? yeah, those are trailers....and a mobile home park right off jackson street. oxford is a neat little town, but bluntly stated, its overrated. the square on the other hand is one of the best if not the best small town public areas in the state. ill give u that. im not trying to push my msu lean, but trying to be as unbiased as my admittedly biased self can be, its overrated. there are several buildings near the grove that need total demolition and are a soar thumb to the university. the grove is nice (particularly in the spring), but that only goes so far. the town has some history, but it is dramatically over-romanticized by om fans. im not trying to down the town, just trying to give my best attempt at a neutral opinion. either way, the town itself is better than starkville, but its hardly the nicest town in the state....at least in my opinion.
