OXFORD, Miss. – In a back and forth game, the Red team beat the Blue team 24-23 in overtime Saturday in the BancorpSouth Grove Bowl.

Red team quarterback Bo Wallace finished the game throwing for 240 yards (16-26) with two touchdowns while Blue team quarterback Barry Brunetti finished the game throwing for 62 yards (4-10) while also rushing for 136 yards on 14 carries.

Red team member Vincent Sanders caught five passes on the day for 89 yards while Blue team member Ja-Mes Logan caught three for 88 yards.  On the defensive side of the ball, C.J. Johnson on the Blue team recorded eight tackles and one sack while Dehendret Collins snagged two interceptions.  On the Red team member Mike Marry recorded six tackles. 

The Red team scored on its opening drive to take a 7-0 lead with 8:55 left in the first quarter.  Wallace threw a one-yard reception to Donte Moncrief for the score.  Earlier in the drive, Moncrief hauled in a 44-yard catch from Wallace.

Blue team kicker Andrew Ritter drilled a 45-yard field goal with 9:04 on the clock in the second quarter to cut the Red team’s lead to 7-3. The Red team added a field goal of its own as Bryson Rose made a 50-yard field goal with 3:17 left in the second quarter.

The Blue team tied the game at 10-10 early in the third quarter as Randall Mackay found Logan for a 19-yard touchdown with 12:05 remaining in the quarter. The play before, Logan caught a 46-yard pass from Brunetti.

The Red team quickly answered and re-took the lead as Wallace scored on a 13-yard quarterback keeper with 8:44 left in the third quarter as Red led Blue, 17-10. 

The Blue team tied the game at 17-17 with 1:50 remaining in the game after a two-yard run from Devin Thomas.  Brunetti ran for 78 yards during the drive to set up the touchdown. 

In overtime, Wallace connected with Moncrief for a 23-yard touchdown reception to give the Red team a 24-17 lead. The Blue team scored as Logan caught a 25-yard pass from Mackay to bring the score to 24-23, but the Blue team failed on its two-point conversion as the Red team came away with the 24-23 win. Approximately 25,000 fans attended the game.
