DEHRAZI, Afghanistan —  The 9-year-old boy with pale skin and big, piercing eyes captivated Mirzahan at first sight.
“He is more handsome than anyone in the village,” the 22-year-old farmer said, explaining why he is grooming the boy as a sexual partner and companion. There was another important factor that made Waheed easy to take on as a bacha bazi, or a boy for pleasure: “He doesn’t have a father, so there is no one to stop this.”

A growing number of Afghan children are being coerced into a life of sexual abuse. The practice of wealthy or prominent Afghans exploiting underage boys as sexual partners who are often dressed up as women to dance at gatherings is on the rise in post-Taliban Afghanistan, according to Afghan human rights researchers, Western officials and men who participate in the abuse.
“Like it or not, there was better rule of law under the Taliban,” said Dee Brillenburg Wurth, a child-protection expert at the U.N. mission in Afghanistan, who has sought to persuade the government to address the problem. “They saw it as a sin, and they stopped a lot of it.”

3 DUI's means the dude had already been negligent to the law and put other people's life in danger twice and then decided to do it a third time. Can't group him into someone that doesn't deserve to be in prison.

I hope you are kidding. The punishment should fit the crime - no? How is subjugation to aggravated sodomy & a possible death sentence (by getting AIDS) not "cruel & unusual?

When did we as a nation decide that allowing for essential sexual slavery as a part of our underground culture is OK & to be ignored because it "is only criminals".

These guys get out & come out much worse than they went in. Which means they come out as a greater threat to society as a whole.

A big part of the problem is that far too many people are in prison in the 1st place; especially minorities. Blacks & Latinos are arrested at a higher rate & typically get longer sentences for offenses.

We have a higher percentage of our population imprisoned than ANY other country in the "civilized" world.

When you ask, "Who cares?" I do. I was VERY irresponsible as a younger man. I made the poor decision to get behind the wheel of a car after drinking too much on more occasions than I care to admit. And I think, "There but by the grace of God go I."

Check this link & read the quote below. If you have a son that might EVER make a mistake, you should care.

Ummmm we you not just arguing with me that the 2 men who broke into a home and got shot by a neighbor got what they deserved??? Many in that thread were arguing that very point, that if you're a criminal, it doesn't matter if your punishment far outweighs your crime. I can't remember if you made that point or not, so I'll let you answer for yourself on how this is any different.

The Afghan story falls right in - great find Noah.

NYIH, I made the argument that criminals being stopped from committing their crime by honest citizens protecting their, or their neighbor's, life or property is fine by me.

The prison rape thing is a tangent to the overall point of this thread, but no, I do not believe that we should allow & accept sexual servitude as part of the punishment for breaking the law.

This type of abuse IS committed against petty drug users.

I also made the point that we as Americans lock far too many people up.

So, I am not saying that it does not matter if the punishment far outweighs the crime. It does matter. However, if one is willfully committing a crime & winds up being seriously hurt or killed by a law abiding citizen protecting himself or his property; then that is a risk taken in committing the crime.

As a society, we should not allow our prisons to be as they are - my opinion. If you disagree, you disagree.

The enormity of sexual perversion crimes is far greater than just prison rape though, as my original article & Noah's article highlights.

Or, let me put it another way.

There is a huge difference in deciding to not prosecute citizens for fighting back against prisoners and actually allowing prisoners to continue to commit gross crimes.

Why should not continue to let the inmates run the asylum...

The guy had THREE DUI's. As someone who's stood by the graveside of a parent while their child was being lowered into the ground because of a drunk driver, I have no sympathy for this piece of shit. In fact I hope that as I type this he's biting a pillow while getting plowed in the ass by a 350 lb black man while a line of at least five more wait their turn. .

Our morality in this country has deteriorated to the point that I'm afraid for our childrens future.

Porn is the root of the problem.
