They have now proposed a plan that goes like this...

If a Big 10 or Pac 12 team is among the BCS top four, there will be 3 semifinal games instead of 2, the third being the Rose Bowl which will still be played between the Big 10 and Pac 12 champs, regardless of where the other team is ranked. After the Rose Bowl and the other 2 semifinal games, a committee will choose which 2 of the 3 winners will play in the national title game and the other will be left out.

I thought the plus one was to keep schools from being left out, not to cause it.

Will they ever get over the fact that the Rose Bowl is irrelevant now?
“We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms -- to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way.”

So THAT'S why that annoying little ad kept popping up during the Gator Bowl and a few other bowl games about the Rose Bowl.

"Hey guys, I know this is the Florida-O$U game, but a 24-17 game between a team that has gone over 30 years without a losing season and another team that has gone over 100 without a 7-loss season all possibly coming down to who catches the onside kick isn't that thrilling. You should really check out the game between Oregon and Wisconsin. Hey guys. Make sure you watch it. Guys, it's the Rose Bowl. Make sure you see the Rose Bowl. Ducks and Badgers, guys. Watch the game."

What would be funny is if this system was actually adopted and the Rose Bowl winner got left out.

Pisses me off the way the Big Ten thinks they have the right to dictate how things should play out.

My idea has always been this:

8 teams, the same eight that would have been in the BCS bowls anyway. I'm gonna use 2005 as an example.

Have the BCS bowls the same way you would have anyway, (obviously would have been changed by automatic bids) and it would look like this in the first round:

Rose Bowl: USC vs Penn St
Orange Bowl: Florida St vs WVU
Fiesta Bowl: Notre Dame vs Texas
Sugar Bowl: Georgia vs Ohio St

(I'm gonna make the higher seeds win for the sake of argument)

The second round would be hosted by the 2 higher ranked teams, round 2 example:

USC vs F$U in LA
Tex vs UGA in Austin

Then the national championship is played in each BCS stadium on rotation like it is now (Would have been the Rose Bowl that year).

Seems like something to help fix the BCS would be to eliminate pre-season rankings and issue a top 25 after week 4.

They used to do it like this before 1975.

Criminoles preseason, enough said. Of course, we could also mention Georgia's turnaround, Vandy's improvement, the Buckeyes, Oklahoma, Houston's surprising season, and a few others.

If any conference should dictate it...it should be the conference that has won 8 BCS titles and 6 in a row. Think about that for a second...8 of 14 BCS titles to one conference
