Trent Johnson is likely to replace Jim Christian as TCU's basketball coach, possibly by early next week, sources said Friday.

Johnson has coached four years at LSU, where he was 58-59 and took the Tigers to the NCAA tournament in his first season. He's coming off an 18-14 season and an NIT appearance after LSU finished eighth in the SEC.

What does LSU fans think about this? I thought Johnson was going to be a solid coach for the Tigers, but looking back on his record, in 13 head coaching seasons, he's had 3 really big years, then a bunch of average-to-worse ones.

He's been able to parlay the first two to bigger profile jobs at Stanford and then LSU, but the move to TCU seems strange to me: he had his big year at LSU in his first season, then went through a couple of bad rebuilding years. But last season LSU won 18 games, was one game below .500 in the SEC, and played in the NIT, so it seems like he's about to turn the program in the right direction...
