Maybe it'll be three but I was just going by what it's been under Saban. It was Grant/Coffee, Coffee/Ingram, Ingram/Richardson 2x, Richardson/Lacy, Lacy/Yeldon with very little other involvement.
No bud, we feature 3 backs.
Upchurch was a great 3rd back that played a bit of HBack too in 08 and 09. In case you forgot he was the one that caught the TD out of the backfield to beat Auburn in 09.
Lacy replaced him as the 3rd back when he could stay healthy, and he made big impacts while we still had Ingram and Richardson. Fowler was a 3rd back in 2011 behind Lacy and Trent. This year we were anticipating playing 4 heavy with Hart being a receiving threat, but both he and Fowler got hurt, 4 with Fowler being in that Hybrid role.
Our system can actually receive significant impact through the 3 backs in normal roles, the Hybrid role (can hold about 2 running backs, and guys like Kamara and Hart in receiver roles. So maybe each season 6 backs could play heavy roles for our system, and that's not just garbage time.

Yeldon is the obvious #1 but after that...
Kamara, Tenpenny, Jones, and Henry are all freshman. Henry is probably the best fit as far as having a physical RB and Kamara is a guy you can put anywhere, a true playmaker. Jones will probably get redshirted along with maybe Tenpenny. Also, Kenyan Drake is a guy I really like but I'm not entirely sure if he's more than a #2/3 RB at this point, camp will decide that.
Fowler is more of the H-Back/FB/short yardage guy who is also coming off surgery. You also have Calloway at this position so they're not really going to be getting a whole lot of touches, if any for Calloway.
Then it's Dee Hart. 2 major injuries now and with his size in the SEC not sure he'll be completely healthy for as long as he's here. If he stays he'll probably be in special teams exclusively, maybe a couple run plays for him.
So when you really break it down it's Yeldon and then a battle among the freshman and Drake for touches.
1. Yeldon
2. Kamara
3. Henry
4. Drake
5. Tenpenny (RS?)
6. Jones (RS)
7. Hart (Special Teams)
1. Fowler
2. Calloway
I would guess Hart transfers and maybe Calloway wants to try out LB finally.

Seriously my man.
It's like we say is this our best class ever every single season. The only position we didn't just load up on is @ CB...still got one of the top guys on our board in Smith.
Crazy to be able to say that a guy like Reuben Foster is a luxury after we loaded up on LBs the past few years. May be able to say the same about Dee Liner. And guys like Derrick Henry and Robert Foster are luxuries. Sick.

Not everyone can be stars, he'll either rise up to the occasion, find another spot or play somewhere else.
To think about 10 years ago Bama had to practically beg kids like these to come in, while the top talent went out of state or to Auburn. Good to be a Bammer these days.

We have had RB injuries every year. Yeldon was about all we had at the end vs LSU after Hart and Fowler went down and Lacey was injured. I expect Calloway to go back to LB. Without the injuries he probably would have played LB last year.
IDK why we have to defend our RB riches on our board though. Calloway may have smoked his career away at a party last summer if he had gone somewhere else. You got Corey Grant, WTF did you do with his eligibility?

watching OJ Howard film, he looks like he plays against 8th grade football teams.............what classification are they? if he has been playing against tiny people his whole HS career, he's gonna take some time to adjust to the big boys

He played at Autauga Academy. I think they're 2a. He was definitely a man amongst boys. I saw him play a couple of times, and it was hard tell because of the level of competition.... but dude sure looks the part.

He is a 5* and turned heads at 7 on 7 camps. Legit.

While his team didn't reach the finals, Autauga Academy star O.J. Howard, a Crimson Tide commit, was named to the tournament MVP team and earned praise from some scouts as the most outstanding player at the event.

Autauga Academy is in the AISA by the way, the private school association. His competition for the most part was below even 1A.
However, he did tear up the camps as SECorBust indicated and the coaches were confident his athletic ability translated onto the field with the best of the best. He beat many of the top corners in the nation with one on one drills and many of the services still ranked him the highest knowing his level of competition. There was no doubt in my mind he could of strarted for Prattville(where Autauga Academy is located) but he was already implanted into the school where his friends were.
He'll be a beast, but maybe it will take some time. Only time will tell naturally.
