Chris Samuels

Quote

Former Washington Redskins tackle Chris Samuels has accepted an assistant coaching position with his alma mater, the University of Alabama, where he will work with the offensive line while completing his degree.

Samuels, here in Mobile, Ala. to watch Senior Bowl practices coached by the Washington Redskins staff and attended by Alabama coach Nick Saban, said he is excited to take another step forward in his coaching career. He said he wants to apply lessons learned from Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan while gleaning from Saban’s knowledge.

If Samuels can make a serious contribution, the OL has a chance to be world-class.

A perennial NFL Pro Bowler is a pretty dang good "grad assistant".

One of if not the best LT to play at Alabama.  Andre Smith was pretty good too though.

Some pretty cool news, wouldn't mind him being our OL coach one day.

I've said it before, the three best offensive linemen to play football at Alabama are, in no order...

John Hannah
Dwight Stephenson
Chris Samuels

And Barrett Jones could very well cement his name to that list as the fourth.

Sounds good.. Shaun Alexander should be right behind him or least he was on every play it seemed for 3 years.

"I didn't come to Alabama to win 10 games a year and be a contender. I came here to win championships. Conference Championships and National Championships. I love it here because that's just not what I want, but what this fan base expects." --Alabama Head Football Coach, Nick Saban

Is he technically a 'grad assistant' if he hasn't graduated?  Surely he's a student assistant?
