ESPN 300 Josh Augusta silently committed via twitter to Mizzou Sunday night... His presence will be huge for our D-line who will feel the loss of Sheldon Richardson.

It is good to see us making an effort at some good players. We are going after Travis Johnson, Ezekiel Elliot, and Joshua Outlaw. They were committed to Miami, Ohio State, and Florida.

@MizzouMark and @chunkybeefstu are either of you members of a paysite? I was wondering what info is on there. I don't follow recruiting too close just read some on TigerBoard and STLToday.

Member on 2 paysites, but only keeping my rivals activated right now... EZE is our best bet right now, his parents both played for Mizzou, and they accompanied him on his visit this weekend and he recieved as Gabe on Rivals put it the Dorial treatment and is said to be 50/50 right now.  His parents are friends with rivals members and they are reporting that they were blown away with their mizzou visit and have always wanted him to go there, but are leaving it in his hands... His OSU commitment was made purely because Urban Meyer met him in person at his school and offered him... he has no other ties to OSU than that... He has told PowerMizzou that he is not doing interviews until signing day... To me that bodes well for us, but it will be a wait and see situation just like it was with Dorial.

Outlaw is on his way home from a visit to OU, he is a previous Florida commit... Little info is known right now except Mizzou is one of the schools in his final list of 5.

Yeah, I knew that Elliot's parent went to Mizzou and they wanted him to go here. I heard he loved the visit and he really liked the MIZ-EZE chant. His visit seemed to be very similar to DGB's. The big thing with him is that OSU is having a running back visit and he was told that he would be the only one in their recruiting class. I was wondering more about the other two. You know anything on Johnson?

Board not really buzzing over Johnson if I remember right he was ready to commit to Mizzou in December, but our Coaching staff was slow playing him in hopes of someone else and now it looks like we will miss both... Still an outside shot of landing him... I will have to go dig through some old threads to find out for sure, but I think he was the one we slow played.

Board was crying bloody murder over it too if I remember right

Are those the only remaining possible recruits?

Not sure if I'm supposed to do this, but I'll PM you something that should satisfy your curiosity.

Shaun Rupert committed. He is a three star safety.

According to twitter, Mixon decommitted.

Mixon was never very solid, but with the DT and DE class were pulling in I think we're fine without, Rupert looks to be underrated, the Alabama Recruting journalist stopped by the Tiger Lair to brag about how underrated he thinks that he is

Looks like we missed out on Ezekiel Elliott. He just tweeted this: I'm taking my talents to Fontbonne with my boys @TheDarkHorse13 and @13urroughs_Kid.

No that's a college in St. Louis, I imagine he is joking.

^What Joe said.  Haven't heard a lot of noise out of CoMo this offseason.

I missed this. We don't have much right now. We have three 3 stars, 2 two stars, and a couple unranked players. The good thing is we managed to get a receiver from Hillcrest and his name is DGB! http://rivals.yahoo....014/missouri-22

If we can make a bowl game and beat one of Florida, South Carolina and Georgia; we should start to pick up in recruiting.
Out of curiosity, how much good will did/does Pinkel get?  Is he on the hot seat?  Typically we're not good, so I'm not gonna talk trash about the past.  You guys have had a more successful program historically.  But Stoops was on the job for 2.5 months and got us the #29 recruiting class (Rivals) and you guys had the #41.  Currently we're sitting on the #16 class for 2014, you guys #43 (yes...it's way too early, but bear with me.)

The point of this isn't to compare Kentucky to Mizzou necessarily.  It's to point out that Vandy has pulled themselves up out of the cellar to the point of genuine respectability.  We are in the process of doing so.  South Carolina and Georgia are certainly looking stout as Posted Image.  Florida will continue to win (even though I have no faith in Muschamp to win long term...that's another discussion entirely.)  That leaves Tennessee, who remains a question mark in my book.  I don't think Butch was a good hire, but he's recruiting damn well, so maybe my deep seated hatred for all things Vol is clouding my judgement.

I know you guys keep saying last year was a down year and that things will get better for you...but unless there's some shaking up in CoMo, I think you guys are in for a rude awakening on what your ceiling is in this conference.  Again, not talking trash, more or less asking you guys what you think/see your future (say next 5 years) and what potential changes are on the horizon or that you guys would like to see in your program to make it more competitive.

We did have the injury bug as UK4Life pointed out. We were playing with a makeshift O Line and our backup QB played half the season. I still don't think that Pinkel is on the hot seat but he is getting closer. You pointed out the Stoops got a good recruiting class in a short amount of time but Mizzou didn't have a good class. I think that is because players can see change at Kentucky with a new coach and new system. At Mizzou, there is no change with the head coach so the players are looking at the same system.

This and next year are make or break for Mizzou and Pinkel. This year we need to make and win a bowl game to impress some recruits. Next year we will have some players contributing who were recruited to play for us in the SEC. If Mizzou can do good in these next two years, I think we will be having some decent success in the near future. If we did bad, it will take years for us to get out of the bottom of the conference.
I think it should be worth noting that we've never had a Top 30 recruiting class in our history.  So for us, it's a little more than new coach/new system.

Thanks for the response.  I'm looking forward to seeing Mizzou make their Bluegrass debut in person this season.  I have a couple of buddies that live in St. Charles that are coming down for the game.  Lexington has some beautiful countryside.  Ya'll come on down and enjoy the Keeneland fall meet, quality bourbon, and SEC football.
