I wish they would move the UF game back atleast one week. It is stupid to have a game that big so early in the season.

So..... only playing 8 conference games even with expansion?? Not sure I like that all that much. Depending on the rotation that means you could go YEARS without playing certain teams from the West. I assumed we'd go to 9 conference games and lose one of the "scrimmages"!
My ridiculously premature and pointless break down of the schedule as I see it....
* There are five wins... the 3 cupcakes, Vandy, and Tucky.... Vandy and Tucky fans can think what they want. Maybe there WILL be a day when those opponents/games are relevant or the outcome is in question going into any season, but it won't be any time soon.
* There are three losses.... at Georgia, Bama, and at S. Carolina. If you want to argue that we might have a chance to be competitive in those games, so be it. BUT winning any of them would be considered an upset and there's no logical reason to think based on what we've seen that we can win those games.
* That leaves four "swing" games.
NC State - while this game looks like a dud in terms of national interest, it'll be HUGE for both programs and more importantly their head coaches. Both teams return talent and experience on the offensive side, it'll likley come down to which defense can produce the most turnovers and stops. I don't think Dools (assuming he's still in charge) can afford to lose this one.
Florida - What a far cry from what this game used to mean is. With just as many questions in Gatorland as there are on Rickety Top, this game being played in Knoxville also makes it a virtual must-win for Dools.
at Miss.State - In order to claim "progress", this is the type of game you've got to prove it in. Will be a tough "get" for sure but still one you should be capable of getting.
Missouri - All do respect to the Tigers but there's no way Dooley wants to be known as the guy that was at the helm when they ENJOYED their first visit to Neyland.
So.... if this schedule is indeed correct, what are expectations and what are we content with??
Even though they are virtually "toss-up" games, I think Dooley really needs to win at least 3 of the 4 swing games. Barring a win against one of the three assumed losses, I don't see a scenario in which 7-5 is good enough to satisfy anyone who bleeds orange.... not with THIS schedule! LSU and Arkansas are getting replaced with MS State and Missouri when comparing to this year's schedule. Dools is REALLY going to be out of excuses come next year!
It's 8-4 or BUST as I see it. Even at 8-4 that's still only a 3-4 record against "quality" competition. Anything less than that sends Dools and the gang packing in my opinion!

Phyllis-But it is a big deal. You almost killed Stanley.
Dwight-Yeah right! I filled him full of butter and sugar for 50 years and forced him not to exercise!

I think we eventually go to 9 SEC games but not next year. Tennessee and Ohio State cancelled a future series a few years down the road. Ohio State is the one that asked due to an expanded conference schedule in the B1G but there was no word of a buyout of the contract leading me to believe that it was more of a mutual decision.
