GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- In the spirit of the Thanksgiving holiday, one of the all-time Gator greats wants to do give a lucky person something to be really thankful for.

Though his charitable foundation, former UF tailback Errict Rhett, the Gators’ all-time rushing leader and 1994 Sugar Bowl MVP, is raffling off a luxurious custom-built home in the Fort Lauderdale neighborhood where he grew up.

Cost off raffle tickets are just $10, with all proceeds going to the Errict Rhett Foundation to assist underprivileged South Florida inner-city youth with aspirations for higher education.

“I want kids to realize their dreams, and I want to be a mentor to them,” said Rhett, now 40, who rushed for 4,163 yards at UF and went on to be a two-time 1,000-yard rusher with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during a seven-year NFL career. “My foundation is about emphasizing character, integrity and the kind of traits kids should take with them and display the rest of their lives.”

Rhett’s story and foundation was the profiled Thursday in a nice Thanksgiving Day post by ESPN.com’s Pat Yasinskas, who blogs on NFC South Division teams (view story here).

The winner of the raffle will have the option of choosing the 2,600-square foot, 4-bedroom/2-bath house or two Cadillac Escalades or $125,000 in cash.
