LOL, I love this.

Leading the SEC in sacks apparently isn’t enough for Jarvis Jones.

Sounds like he plans to do some recruiting of current Georgia defensive players for 2012.

After ringing up 2 ½ sacks, making seven tackles and forcing a key fumble in Georgia’s 19-10 SEC East clinching win Saturday against Kentucky, the third-year sophomore reiterated that he planned to return next year despite some projecting him as a first-round NFL prospect.

“I’ve got a long time around here,” said Jones, who increased his sack total to 12 ½, two shy of breaking David Pollack’s Georgia single season sack record. “I’m definitely coming back. I’ve got a great coach. Our whole defense is coming back next year so why would I mess that up?”

The whole defense would include redshirt junior safety Bacarri Rambo who has made no such declaration that he will return.
Asked about Rambo, Jones repeated: “Our whole defense is coming back next year.”

Told of Jones’ comment, Rambo said again he’s focused on college football now, not his NFL future.

“That time will come when the season is over with,” Rambo said. “I’m just happy we made it to the SEC championship.”

So is senior cornerback Brandon Boykin, who decided last winter to return for one more season.

“This is what I came back to do,” he said. “It’s like a fantasy. As a senior, to win on senior day and to win the SEC East is a great feeling.”

Assuming we dont have anyone leave early on offense or defense, next years team may be the most talented and experienced team we have had since i have been watching georgia football. The 2003 and 2004 teams would be close but i think these guys are better.

We lose 3 starting OL. This is really the only major concern. Good thing is, for once, we have a ton of young guys ready to step in.

Figgins is gone but he isnt even a full time player. He spits with the smaller ogletree who will be back.

All QBs, RBs, TEs and WRs who contributed should be back as well as hopefully Keith Marshall..

Defense loses Tyson and Boykin...thats all

We will be young in the kicking game.

Is JJ our best defensive player since Pollack?

He's got the numbers and my vote.

Yes.  Without a doubt.

The only player I'm concerned about leaving early is OC7.  I think his friendship with Murray will keep him around though.

Dont get me wrong, orson is a hell of a player and it would be great to have him back. But if he does leave, we have Arthur Lynch and Jay Rome, who were both top rated TE's coming out of high school. We also have incoming freshman Ty Smith who is an Orson Charles type player. Probably not the same talent but similar height and weight with Smith being a bit faster.

It's not the same now with the rookie salary cap in place. The motivation to jump early isn't as strong as i was before. None of them will get huge paydays just for getting drafted.

What Jones is forgetting is that someone will get arrested and another is going to get hurt in the offseason so they will not all be coming back until after the season starts.

Maybe that will make for a close UGA-UT game, doubt it though
