FAYETTEVILLE - The University of Arkansas football team matched the highest Bowl Championship Series standing in school history Sunday when it moved up two spots to sixth in this week's BCS standings.

The Razorbacks are sixth in the BCS for just the second time in school history and have been in the top 10 of the BCS standings for a school-record seven consecutive weeks dating back to last season. The only other time Arkansas was sixth in the BCS was week 6 of 2006.

Last season, UA was seventh in the next-to-last BCS standings and eighth in the final standings before opening the 2011 season ninth in the initial BCS standings on Oct. 16. The next week, Arkansas was 10th and then the Razorbacks jumped to seventh in the standings released Oct. 30 before appearing in eighth last week.

Arkansas is 9-1 for the first time under head coach Bobby Petrino and the second time since joining the SEC. The Razorbacks conclude their 2011 home slate Saturday when they host Mississippi State inside War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock. The game will be aired on CBS at 2:30 p.m.
