Keep in mind I read it on the BOL boards so take it with a grain of salt. I keep a list of all the guys on the team who signed a LOI to come to Alabama, so I have a good idea of who is on scholly. I had us at 85 including Woodson and all of last year's signees before camp started. However, Woodson wasn't able to practice because of numbers.
Having made this list myself, I can only guess at which walk ons are on scholarship. I am not sure about this but I think if a player is recruited by the school then he has to count against the 85. That means that anyone who has signed a LOI counts against the 85.
We have 85 guys, including Danny Woodson, who signed a LOI to come to Bama. That means that there is one walk on who is on scholarship and he is the one who has Woodson's spot. If Woodson is at practice tomorrow, that means that player did not have his scholarship renewed. I think tomorrow is the deadline for players to join the team.

This latest development is wholly unexpected, but in any event according to Nick Saban, Danny Woodson, Jr. has joined the Alabama football team and will begin working out with the team immediately. This latest development comes after weeks of speculation and belief that Woodson would only enroll this fall if Duron Carter became an academic casualty, but obviously that turned out not to be the case with both Carter and Woodson currently in Tuscaloosa. Saban indicated that the staff will use the same routine currently being used to acclimate Carter to also bring Woodson up to speed.
Furthermore, at roughly 6'2 and 200 pounds, Woodson brings the size and the physical threat needed on the outside that the largely undersized UA wide receiver corps is currently missing. A redshirt season is almost a foregone conclusion given the late start, but even so Woodson will develop much faster by spending the semester on the UA scout team than he otherwise would have by sitting at home in Mobile.

It sounds like the staff was waiting to see if Jeremy Hill was going to make it in.

So Saban only kept his word to Woodson Jr. once it was determined that Hill wouldn't make it in?

We're fine at RB, we have a good combo of Richardson/Lacy and a goal line back at Fowler.
