How the hell do we not end up getting ANY of these 5* D players when we are losing as much as we are???

We're looking good for Montravius Adams who is a 5*, and we have an outside shot on Reuben Foster who is also a 5*. We've already got 30 players committed, most are upper 3*'s and 4*'s. I like our class a lot, and if we can close with Tunsil, Johnson and 1 or more out of Adams, Foster, Kamara I'd be damn happy.

ESPN Insider (went with them, they're cheap), has Foster going to AU and Adams going to Clemson. I mean it really shouldn't even be this hard, a good deal of this guys are from GA. How are we not even in the running for Nkemdiche?

lol man, Nkemdiche's much less talented brother is already at Ole Miss. Don't get worked up about it, Adams is 50/50 on Clemson and Georgia (I think we get him). Foster is also one of those "bizarre" situations where his family was relocated to Auburn, Alabama or some crap. Don't get worked up over Nkemdiche, we never had a shot with his brother going to Ole Miss.

Just seems like we aren't getting the very top players in GA like we have the past couple years, I thought we had turned a corner in that area. Our class is still great, just seems like we missed out on a few of GA's best. Hell maybe they just aren't in the areas we need, I dont know

I mean we already have 30 commitments, a lot of them are high 4*'s and we're in it for a couple of five stars. I feel 75% certain we get Adams and Tunsil.

I dont get caught up in the "star" factor--We have seen how some of those 5 stars can turn out. And some of our great players in the past were not ranked that high. So hopefully the coach's see more in them than stars. But I understand what GatorHater24 is talking about. With our recent past of success, and the amount of talent in Georgia.  It would seem that we would have to push some Georgia recruits away & shut the door to keepem out because we are full. But that just dont seem to be the case.

Todd Gurley wasn't a 5*, and he's the best running-back we've had since Hearst.

Out of the top 20 recruits in Georia.  (per Rivals)

Georgia - 5
Uncommitted - 4
SEC Rivals - 7
B1G - 2
Notre Dame - 1
Clemson - 1

This just seems crazy to me that we aren't locking down our own state.  Especially when we have zero from the top 5 with only Adams left as a possibility.

I agree !   Funny we are talking about this, ESPN has an article under SEC Blog called "Looking back at 2012 SEC freshmen" And it is talking about how suprisenly it is where some players were & were not ranked & how there 1st season played out. pretty interesting. Some of the big names we read about this year were not highly ranked & some that were had mediocre seasons.

That's all I'm saying too, we have NOBODY in state to compete with, along with tons and tons of talent...... just seems like we should be more dominant in our own state.

He probably sucks.
The only decent football programs in a 30 mild radius are South Sumter and Apopka.

Thanx for the update. Lol. Doesnt matter much. Tray Matthews will be starting this year at Saftey and with any luck he will be lining up behind his buddy Reuben Foster.

I assume Richt is willing to take a risk because the guy has probably had zero legitimate coaching.
If you can be ranked a 3* out of that area, you are a special talent.

There was a big time corner that went to tOSU, Jeff Demps and two OL at Florida, and another corner at F$U in recent years that came from that area.
But only the Nole player was ranked decently out of high school.
Worth the risk if you are going with Plan B options.

I think most staffs do this the closer you get to signing day.

Yea makes sense. Gurley was pretty highly recruiting last year but was said to possibly redshirt because Marshall was supposed to be the star.  Marshall is great and Gurley just turned out to be a beast.

Cant wait until signing day.
