1. There is nothing wrong with cutting taxes. However, if we cut more taxes, namely for those making $250k +, our revenue will be even more sorely depleted. If taxes are to be cut, it should be for those who make less than $120k, as we are the backbone of the economy.
2. While drilling on the US coast and in Alaska sounds all good and all, fact of the matter is, oil's time is limited. We would do well to look into having natural gas as our primary source of fuel. It's much cleaner than gasoline and will be much cheaper. Plus, in the US, it is estimated that we have two Saudi Arabia's worth of natural gas in all of the US.
3. A balanced budget would be fantastic, and I would be all for it. The one hole in the arguement is this; to have a balanced budget, we would have to concede our superpower status. That means no more adventures in the world of nation building, no more giving away piles of cash to parasites on our budget such as Pakistan, Israel, etc. You eliminate that and sell off at least half of the bases in the 120 of 193 countries in the world that we currently maintain and a balanced budget might be feasible. Otherwise, it is a fantasy, plain and simple.
4. I especially like your last suggestion. That would bring in a ton of revenue without raising taxes too much.

You've literally have no clue about the federal deficit, huh? You could completely cut every single entitlement program and we still wouldn't be close to "balancing the budget". Watch this. It's pretty accurate and very straightforward. BTW, what you said about me knowing nothing about economics, I'll make sure to bring that up tomorrow in my ECON 547 class.

If you want to argue about this approach or that, fine. But you clearly don't understand anything if you think "The liberal/Dems would rather have another great depression before give the GOP credit for saving the economy" or whatever. As much as I hate certain BS conservative policies, I never think that the GOP would be doing them if they actually believed them to be harmful. Doesn't mean said policies work, but they don't do them knowing that they will fail. If you think the Dems would do something to hurt the nation on purpose, you have literally no understanding of anything and believe this all to be a game full of super heros and evil villains instead of people with differing ideologies.
