Carlos Morris and Ian Baker?
They are fringe BCS prospects at best.

Supposedly Morris had offers from Arkansas, Cincinnati and West Virginia. Baker didnt have offers from good schools though. May have been a "offer this guys friend a scholly to get him here" kinda thing. I dont really know much about them though. At this point my excitement level for basketball is pretty low anyway.

Yeah, Morris is much better than Baker, but still I doubt his offers from Arkansas and West Virginia.
I dunno, I liked Darrin Horn, but you can't compete with Kentucky, Florida, and Vanderbilt by pulling kids like this.
He needs a big season in 2013 while Tennessee and Vandy are down.

Still not saying much. Horn has to have a great season to prove to me he belongs here.

Horn has to rely on the fringers, thats all he can do in recruiting. Cant compare us to the big time schools. Coaching is Horn's strength, not recruiting, which..unfortunately, is why he wont last much longer here

If he doesnt have a decent season this year he wont have to worry about 2012, much less 2013.
I agree though, I've always liked him. And he seemed like a good fit at first. We have the resources for him but if he isnt getting results on the court its gonna get harder and harder to convince kids to come play ball here. Theres no reason for SC to not make it to the NCAA most years, and make a decent run every few years. Guess we'll see how it goes from here....

We have more history in basketball than we do football. History isn't our issue. Right now it's been two below average coaches in row.

Yep, that was a a stroke of bad luck. I think if Archie doesn't blow his knew-out on that freak rebound then SC makes a serious run at the conference title and the tourney.
But there is some sort of other dynamic going on with Horn and I have yet to figure it out. Is it that his players are not happy with him? Or does he have a hard time connecting with this kids, which may be the recruiting issue as well? If so he needs to get a big time recruiter on his staff. Whatever he needs to do - just do it. He's a good guy but something is not hitting on all cylinders down there. I think every since the fight in the locker room up in Cincy and then Mike Morgan backstabbing him, it seems to have gotten off track.
Morgan is lucky they only fired him imho. He should have been drawn and quartered.

Ian Baker committed to South Carolina on Wednesday afternoon with his high school teammate, but the commitment meant more to the 2012 guard than more people can imagine.
Happiness comes in many forms, as does inspiration.
For Ian Baker, both of those things stemmed from his commitment to South Carolina on Wednesday afternoon.
Baker and his high school teammate Carlos Morris became Gamecocks, but for Baker, it’s deeper than that.
The 2012 guard recently lost a close friend of his, and it’s been rough on him.
But on Wednesday, the 6-foot guard had a reason to finally smile again.
“It’s probably about as happy as I’ve felt since before his death,” Baker said of the commitment. “I wish my friend was here to see this.”
Baker favored three schools, and he recently crossed out Miami from his list, leaving South Carolina and Providence.
“It was down to Providence and South Carolina — and Kris Dunn committed to Providence this morning — and I felt like I was South Carolina’s guy,” he said. “So I just went ahead and did it.”
Baker called up his Arlington Country Day (Jacksonville, Fla.) teammate to talk things out. The talk ended up in a commitment.
“I called Squirrel (Morris) and asked him if we were ready,” Baker said. “We called our AAU coach, and he called the (South Carolina) coaching staff and let them know we were committing.
“It feels good. It always feels good going into a new thing with someone you’ve already played with. Me and Squirrel have real good chemistry. This’ll be our third year together (at ACD), so I’m looking forward to the next four years after that.”
The point man for the D.C. native’s recruitment was South Carolina assistant Mike Boynton, who’s built a solid relationship with the coaching staff down at the Jacksonville-based school.
“I have a real good relationship with Boynton,” Baker said. “He has a good relationship with our AAU coach. He always makes me feel real good about the program. So he just let me know that was the place for me.
“Playing time is definitely one of the reasons I committed, as well. Who wouldn’t want to come in and play right away?”
Baker is also ready to get to Columbia so he can gain an education and chase his collegiate dreams. And even though his friend has passed away, Baker knows that college was the ultimate goal that his buddy was pushing him to achieve.

Chaz Elder
I apologize but i will not be making my decision today. It is a very tough decision. I would like to stay committed to my football team ...

Keith Marshall has been removed from our prospect list and has been taken off the board. He did some things this weekend in Athens, tweeted some things among other things, that has the Gamecock coaches removing him from the board and they will not be contacting him any longer from what I understand. He's been completely scratched off the board and removed from consideration to be invited to come to Carolina to play.
Chaz Elder is still doing the tap dance although he's still a heavy lean to SC last we heard. But he's got this Georgia thing going on down home and catching some grief from the locals so his official announcement is probably not going to come for awhile unless he surprises us all and makes it official some time this week after the Carolina win down in Athens.
Darius Hamilton, who at one time was looking good for the Gamecocks, seems to have cooled on us for the time being although we are still expecting to get a visit from him. No one is quite sure what happened but there have been a lot of rumors out there, ranging everything from Mangus and SAM to his fear of not getting early playing time on the current roster. Getting a visit from him will be important.
Jonathan Bullard is still high on the list for us and it looks like it'll be between our Gamecocks and the Gators.
