So I get off work, come home and try to turn on my laptop. I had this playa fly song stuck in my head all day and I wanted to download it. Playa fly is bomb, but I digress...
I turn on my pc, and I've been expecting this to happen soon, but my laptop said, "no operating system found." I'm like okay? So I try to restart it, sane thing. I tried at least 10 times and to no avail, it won't start. So now I need to find a new one. I won't lie, is really like a MAC, but I don't have a G to spend on a new laptop. Can any computer gurus help me out here?
Oh if you're wondering how I'm posting this, Droid incredible saves the day

The restore cd concept went away some time ago. Now, it is an image on a separate partition and requires the user to make his own.

Sounds like your hard drive went bad. Get a new one, reinstall windows, and then try to get the stuff off the old one. May be hard on a laptop.
I'm back, :lanekiffin: ers.

Hard drives are cheap and easy to install. Windows disks are common, somebody you know has one. You can use XP, Vista, or 7. Preferably XP. Ubuntu is a great OS, Windows like but faster and free to download.

Can you boot into safe mode?
Turn on and start tapping F8

Let me get this straight. We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and will be fined for if we don't, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that hasn't read it but exempts itself from it, signed by a president who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese and financed by a country that's broke.
What could possibly go wrong?

Probably the hard drive. Those things crap out in laptops all the time.

I'm no computer guru, but look at a Mac for a long-term solution. In my experience, the money I spent on my Macbook is money I saved on 4 other PC's that would have crapped out in the same time this one is gonna last me...and it probably won't work slowly and start acting buggy towards the end of its life either.
