Personally, I've preferred ESPN for the last few years; and it has nothing to do with our team's ranking. All the services ranked us #1 last year, and I still preferred ESPN. I just trust the folks doing the evals more these days at ESPN. It'll be interesting to see a similar study in the next few years after more recent classes of prospects have played.

OK, the 'study' shows nothing more than trends between the services.  I'll give you that.

However, this is not a study.  It is an observation if you want to get technical.  If it were a study things would be looked at proactively and the study would be controlled for sources of error or discrepancy that would make it more valid.  Coaching would have to be controlled at some point to validly assess each services ability to evaluate athletes.  It may actually explain why athletes recruited by higher profile schools see their star ratings increase.  Saban and Meyer are better coaches than Nutt or Richt.  Therefore their players develop more, thus Rivals gives them higher ratings for committing there, thus they come out on the other end looking better because of it.

I think it all smells of shit.

I'm sure this has nothing to do with Espn having Floridas class ranked 10 spots higher than everyone else :D

I'm starting to like 247 sports

It has absolutely nothing to do with that at all. Their rankings have been much better and more consistant than any other site out there the last few years.

What you really meant, I think.

Bottom line is, you don't have any proof that bears that opinion out.

I would say that this isn't definite, just for the fact that 247 is emerging, and ESPN took Jamie Newberg, and both of those happenings have hurt Rivals.

But I have the ability to make it look like I have proof. I'm a bit of a magician in that regard. Unfortunately you're the stinker in the crowd who always shouts out "it's in his pocket! There's a trap door on the stage!"

Scout has Auburn as the #1 class in the SEC right now, so I'm gonna go with them.

The way people decide which service is better is by how highly their team is ranked.

myself included

I'd rank them:

1.Rivals
2.ESPN
3.Scout
4.247

Also, Another good one is starting to rate players and that "ThaRinger".

The Mods and Admins there know their stuff.

I think it all smells of shit.

"Like recruiting, it's a bit of an inexact science. Simply put, there are too many factors to have a black-and-white answer about which recruiting service is the best."

This is a direct quote from the article. He explicitly states there are multiple factors that go into how well a player develops, but this was an attempt to gauge how well each does evaluating talent since people constantly argue over which service is the best.
