This is still a tough pill to swallow, even five years later.

Quote

Two years removed from graduation, Prothro holds on to a different dream. The 2008 Alabama grad would like to coach football one day. But a good football job has been hard to find. "It's a longer process than I thought," he said, sighing.

Kid's working as a bank teller.  I really hope fortune once again smiles on T.P.

He was really one of my favorite non-Gator players.

I know our fan bases takes a bashing for being a bunch of douchebags and I usually just laugh it off, but one of the few times I was ashamed of my Gator brethren was when there were some a$$holes in the stands that day cheering when Prothro went down. Really unfortunate...

Wow Clay Travis actually wrote an article that wasn't absolute horse shit.

What a sad story.  He is still one of the all-time greats to me and he'd definitely be playing pro ball right now I'm sure.  He was amazing to watch.  Hopefully he can get back in the game as a coach eventually.

Hopefully, a Bama booster reads this and offers him a good cushy job until he can get into coaching

Also, yet another example of why there should be a system for ensuring that college athletes get some kind of long-term disability when something like this happens...

Ain't nothin' wrong with that. If he wasn't Prothro he probably wouldn't even have a job.

However, I hope he gets his dream. The dude is straight up class.

Really tragic story, he was such a talented player. I wish him the best. I would like to meet him and buy his book, does anyone know where he will be signing at?

I have the pleasure of vouching for that, was the neighbor of some friends of mine in T-town. Shook his hand one night and talked some football, real down to earth funny guy...had us all cracking up.

Hate it happened....You have to wonder though...had he not hurt...our offense wouldn't have hurt so bad...so does that mean we don't lose those two games in 2005....meaning....we end up going further...maybe to the SEC title game...? This might have ended up keeping Shula around....just a case of the WHAT IF's....no matter the case...I hate that it happened...he was an amazing player and always carried himself with CLASS...I hope one day down the road we see him as a successful coach...
Show class, have pride and display character. If you do, winning takes care of itself.

meh our OL was so dreadful that year I doubt we would have won against LSU and Auburn. Just glad we don't have to think about it.

Anyone have info if he's bringing the game ball out?
