BATON ROUGE – LSU’s student newspaper, the Daily Reveille, was recently named one of America’s 10 best campus newspapers according to the Princeton Review.

The list, published in the Princeton Review’s 2011 annual “The Best 373 Colleges” guide, ranked the Reveille No. 10, ahead of peer institutions such as the Universities of Texas and Florida, as well as Ole Miss.

“The entire Reveille staff should take pride in this national recognition of their hard work and commitment,” said Bob Ritter, director of student media at LSU. “The Reveille has a long tradition of excellence — a tradition that both current and future staff members should strive to not just maintain, but improve upon. That’s what journalism at LSU is all about.”

The honor is one of many for the Reveille, which over the years has consistently been honored as one of the top college newspapers in the country. In 2008, the paper’s website " + artTitle.replace("-","") + " - " + "Daily Reveille" + " - " + "Daily Reveille" + ", was honored with an Editor & Publisher award as the best college newspaper website, and in 2003, the paper received an Associated Collegiate Press National Pacemaker award, the highest award granted to student publications.

“The Daily Reveille is no stranger to accolades,” said Sarah Lawson, the paper’s editor for the 2010-2011 school year. “We are so honored to be recognized from an organization we actually use in our own reporting. This ranking is just another testament to the top-notch work this all-student publication puts out and to the paper as a standard in college journalism.”
