The New Orleans Saints first kicked off 43 years ago, and notched just nine winning seasons in a history noted mostly for a handful of memorable single plays and many, many forgettable games. But now the team is the king of the pro football world, and there's a dreamy euphoria across the Gulf Coast. Marty Mulé, a former Times-Picayune sportswriter, has written a salute to the team and considers what the historic Super Bowl win means for the city. See the special coverage here.

I was in the French Quarter when it all went down. The police blocked off Canal and Decatur Street. It was crazy but it wasn't burning cars crazy. Good times....

It is well deserved. I was certainly hoping they would win it! A "dreamy euphoria". Perfect way of describing it, I'm sure. :D
