considering our situation with sandberg, im kinda worried we arent gonna be able to flip either dobbs or okorn which would pretty much leave us up shit creek.  with less than 3 weeks and a likely high mlb draft prospect, how the hell was another qb not number one on the list of gets?  i am NOT comfortable with our qb situation...we are two hits away from being out of commission.

??  Mullen has an in-home with Dobbs RIGHT NOW and is going to put the pressure on him.  We will know exactly where he stands after tonight -- meaning he's either going to be in the boat, or we are moving on to O'korn.

You really don't think we can flip a Florida QB prospect from Houston at a moments notice?

Not really......
If Ole Miss wins this season's Egg Bowl, I will change my username to FreezeownsMullen for the duration of one complete year. And I will also add a picture of the Ole Most players celebrating in DWS.

When State wins, Rebelfan4life must rename himself MSUownsOM for the duration of one complete year.

im sure that our staff has been trying to chip away for a while now at least by staying relevant and keeping contact knowing that plan A was a potential loss.  what im saying is trying to flip someone despite how much contact the staff may or may not have with him with 3 weeks to go seems like a VERY risky strategy for a class that desperately needs a legit qb prospect on campus next fall.  im sure the staff knows way more than i do about sandberg and where he stands as well as the other two who are committed to other schools, i just think that counting on a flip if our plan A guy goes and plays baseball this late in the game is a risky prospect to say the least.  as stated, we will know where our plan B/C guy stands by now, but qb was a position we absolutely had to fill with legit talent....so, to me, its just a very risky strategy.  regardless of how much contact we have had, both those guys are currently committed to other schools....one just committed the other day (so we are asking for a quick flip) and the other is committed to a school that is marginally better historically than mississippi state and considering state has a qb pedigree of zero, asu has the advantage there.  either way, these guys know they werent option A for us, so there is a bruised ego to deal with.....

not saying this cant be overcome, as we certainly have done it in the past, but its a lot to risk if we miss on either of these guys (ie, if they keep their current commitments) and sandberg goes pro.....especially for a position that we desperately needed to fill in this class.  we are 3 weeks away from nsd and we dont have anyone committed who wont be offered untold sums of money to go play baseball.  i think we should all be at least a little concerned at this point.

and to answer your question, im not entirely convinced we can....especially considering the fact that we would most likely redshirt him.  you have a lot more faith in children than i do....and all this pains me to say because i am largely a mullen recruiting supporter.  ill just have to defer to his relationships and judgment at this point.  i just dont want to end up with a qb "project".

remember that project qb named chris relf?.....he was a 2* and remember how that turned out?  clearly, mullenz cant coach em up**

im not mad or pissed, i just think that this should have been taken care of long ago and we shouldnt have waited this late to hinge our hopes (and dreams) on the idea that we are gonna flip these guys because we are mississippi state and they are lowly houston and asu.

Merlin has proven over the years that flipping prospects at a position of need at the last minute is one of his strongest attributes.... as long as said prospect is unrated and doesn't play on the OL

We have GOT to get either Dobbs or O'korn
I prefer Dobbs

We need the twins

D Wilson (WR from Alabama)

I'm content with that, would like another DL

what is going on with scott austin??...are we really asking him to gray shirt??...seems early to be asking a 6'4" WR to gray shirt when we need WR's and we aren't 100% with Corey Smith anymore...but maybe thats just me...

someone on 247 said it best...... Austin was the only Dandy Dozen that didn't make the All-State team in any shape, form or fashion.

IF we are doing this.... we know we are getting someone unexpected earlier.  We wouldn't greyshirt him if we had room.

DeRunnya Wilson maybe?
