Went to college with the guy.  He is as down to earth as they come.  An all around good guy.  Here is an interview he did with CNN on the Gilbert Arenas gun issue.

Video - Breaking News Videos from CNN.com

Look for the video entitled NBA Players and Guns

Karl Malone is not a good guy. When he was in college, he fathered a child with, what I believe, was a 12 or 13 year old girl. He paid off the family to keep quiet.

Here's an article...

I had forgotten the child of the girl was recently drafted.

The Mailman was always good in my book, though I loved watching my favorite guy, Shawn Kemp, ball on the Jazz.

First Malone and now Kemp.  This thread is now dedicated to seeing who can have more children out of wedlock!

I was in college with Karl at that time and I find it very hard to believe.  He had all the women he would have wanted without resorting to an underage girl.  However, we are talking about Louisiana so who knows.  He does alot for the community he lives in now.

He definitely does a lot for Ruston.  He's in the middle of a huge construction project right now out on Farmerville Hwy (razor, I know you know where that is) that is employing a lot of people.  He also provides several scholarships for Ruston area kids to attend Cedar Creek, a rich kid private school here in town.  He volunteers a lot of time to the LA Tech basketball program as well.

I'm not sure I understand...what's there not to believe? The girl was 12 when she conceived, 13 when she had the child. That child went on to grow up and be drafted. Malone has acknowledged the child is his. The family of the mother has never pressed any sort of charges.

Seems pretty cut-and-dry to me...he screwed a 12 year old and got her pregnant. I'm sure he provided for them financially, otherwise they'd have had no reason to stay quiet about it.

I like you Razor, but honestly I can't think of a former NBA player I like less than Karl Malone! Except perhaps Shawn Kemp! :azz:
Having said that being a life-long Rockets fan certainly has something to do with it in both cases, so....  Malone was NEVER regarded as a good person during his playing days and I just never really respected the way he and the Pasty Gangsta played the game. They were both dirty players and virtually reinvented and mastered the use of the "flop". The NBA was full of dirty players but those guys actually had the nerve to get offended if someone suggested them to be that. Oh well! At least he's doing something good with his fame and fortune!

Shawn Kemp??? How could you possibly like Shawn Kemp, Puddin??? Human Garbage rarely gets stacked that high!! :D
Phyllis-But it is a big deal. You almost killed Stanley.
Dwight-Yeah right! I filled him full of butter and sugar for 50 years and forced him not to exercise!
