"Whenever I see those crimson jerseys and crimson helmets, I feel humbled to have played football for Alabama. Other players in the NFL talk to me about their schools and their traditions. I just smile knowing the immense love Alabama fans have for our school and its football program. I'm proud to be a part of that Crimson Tide heritage."

Obviously Ingram is getting the heisman hype because he has a much better team around him. Take a look at these stats and vote for who is better.
Yards per game:
Ingram-125.5
Tate-118.6

Stats vs common opponents UT, Ark, UK, and OM
Carries:
Ingram-85
Tate-103

Yards:
Ingram-461
Tate-588

Yards per carry:
Ingram-5.4
Tate-5.7

Yards per game:
Ingram-115.3
Tate-147

Ingram is the better back.  He performed better than Tate against every single common opponent except for Arkanasas (when Ingram was returning after injury).  Those stats were originaly published in an article before the LSU game.  The revised stats (including LSU) now stand as

Carries:
Ingram-107
Tate-121

Yards:
Ingram-605
Tate-655

Yards per carry:
Ingram-5.7
Tate-5.5

Yards per game:
Ingram-121
Tate-131

Tate has more yards per game over those 5 games only because he carred the ball more times.

Ingram vs. Tate in Yards per carry (Common Opponents)

Ingram                                              Tate

Arkansas               2.9 8.4
Kentucky               6.4               4.2
LSU 6.5 3.7
Ole Miss               6.1 5.8
Tennessee 5.5              5.1

Ingram worst game was Arkansas when Ingram was coming back from injury.  Arkansas was Tate's best game but Tate's long runs came only after Arkansas had a blow-out lead and an almost sure win.

Guys will you please give it a break with the damn stats. They literally don't prove anything. Ingram will probably prove to be the better back in the long run. But Tate has a very solid frame and rushing style and should be a decent back in the NFL. I'll take either one.

Truetrue. If you had both of these backs on your team I could only imagine the yards....And im not trying to be a jerk or anything but its McCaleb.

It's McCalebb, yes two b's.

And yes Darvin Adams is the reason that Auburn's offense works.  He's no better than AJ Green, but he's one of the top receivers in the conference.

Ingram carried Alabama against South Carolina.  He lined up in the wildcat and he ran it.  Teams knew that he wasn't going to throw or hand off either.  They ran Ingram out of the wildcat this year like they ran Coffee from the I last year.  You know he is going to run, but they just can't stop him.  This guy runs and takes the team on his back when he does a-la Tebow.  He doesn't go down until 3-4 guys get their hands on him and that's why he is leading the heisman race.  This guy was a 3* and a true freshman last August.  What will he do next year?

Tate is big and he's a strong back that runs well outside.  THe man is fast, he is undoubtedly at/near the top in the conference.  He is that good, but he did not carry his team to wins over Kentucky, Arkansas, and LSU.  That's a bigger thing than you Auburn fans are giving credit for.  For this reason Ingram is better.

How can Tate lead us if we have a crappy defense?  We were playing from behind against Arkansas and LSU the whole game.  The UK game all they did was stuff the box against us to shut down Tate.  I'm not saying Tate is better but that's just something to throw out there.  IMO, stats don't really matter.

The original post was based on stats that implied Tate was better.

Yeah they do.  Just sayin that it's hard to run the ball when you're losing and your defense is giving up 20+ a game.

Still, stats don't matter.
