Curious what you found most surprising about Alabama after the first game.

For me, it was Greg McElroy's toughness and focus. That kid fought through adversity and then kicked it's ass.

I thought Terry Grant would see more action, he was second sting.
It seems Upchurch is a big play waiting to happen so i'm glad he got more involved.

I thought Ingram was the biggest surprise. I figured McElroy would play well once he got settled in. I've been hyping him for a while myself though. I thought Ingram would have a good game, maybe rush for 85 yards and a TD but I wasn't expecting 150 yards rushing and 2 TD's total. Upchurch was surprising as well. Seemed everytime he carried the ball he broke one loose.

McElroy and his arm strength stood out for me. Once, while looking for Julio on the left, he turned and threw a bullet over the middle to Hanks.

Looks like most issues Saban tried to work on from last year have been somewhat resolved. Like the pass rush and throwing to different receivers.

I pretty much knew when it came to game time Upchurch will get the backup carries. Grant maybe a practice warrior, but he's too small to be a regular back in our offense.

I just want Upchurch to learn how to tuck that ball high and tight like Coffee did last year.

I was impressed at how good our defense is actually.

It was nice to see McElroy going through is progressions. He did that more in one game than JPW did all year. Not to knock JP too hard, but he developed a habit of staring down the one person he intended to throw the ball to with DJ Hall and continued it with Julio. I appreciate all his hard work, but I am genuinely excited about McElroy's potential.

The number of #%$&$ penalties - but I'll take it - hopefully we learned some lessons. I feel very certain Saban will address all week (anyone remember Coffee having a ball duck taped to his hand for a week after a game full of fumblitis?).

Statistically - we beat the stank out of them (esp minus penalties and the one return for 6) - and played as expected.

This. GMac's arm appears to be significantly stronger that JPWs. I was also impressed with his scrambling ability.

And I gotta admit, I was surprised by the raw speed of the D. There were a few times when they walked up to the line, saying in effect, "We're bringing the house and there isn't a damned thing you can do about it." Then the ball snapped, and in a flash Ro and Hightower were in the backfield.

Sig by Sabanocchio, a pretty decent guy for a Tennessee fan...;)

What surprised me was seeing how Mac was a fearless runner. He had no qualms whatsoever about taking the ball and running whenever he saw a decent opening. I didn't expect that. I expected Ingram to blow 'em out. I was also surprised at how well they contained Julio.

I liked the pass rush and pressure on the QB.Bama had 26 sacks all last year but 5 against VT.Also just the size and conditioning of all the players seems a lot better.

I was surprised that Marcel wasn't the planned starter, that guy is unblockable.

And the Wild Tide offense. I know we didn't get much from it, but i'm excited about where it could go. I think we can get a lot of talent involved with it, maybe put Star or even Brad Smelley back there ;)

I think we are going to get smoother and more confident. It was a great effort for the first game of our season.

I'm with you on that, Deaderick just lost his job.
