According to Phil Kornblut, suspended TB Corey Boyd has left USC and intends to enroll at Rutgers and play his final two seasons in his native New Jersey. I guess he's gone. Turman, Davis, Wallace, Sims, and Ashcraft are going to have to step it up.

That sux...Rutgers can be dangerous at times (ask Michigan State lol) & Boyd will fit right in up in Joisey. I used to live in that armpit of an area (Hawthorne, NJ) for a couple years and I have to feel sorry for Boyd somewhat, even if he is a moronic, half-retarded idiot for throwing away the best opportunity he'll ever see in his entire life. Imagine how hard he'll be kicking himself in the arse 5 years from now.... :(
These kids have to learn though....with Spurrier it's if you get high, bye bye time. Good luck Corey, you're going to need it.

Like GT said yesterday, in a few years nobody is going to miss these Holtz guys because they are going to be replaced with far more talented guys. Good riddance!

wouldnt he have to sit out a year if he transfered?
anyway i can honestly see Ashcraft taking over Turmans starting spot. Spurrier seemed to really put him to use in the spring game maybe he sees something in the kid that we dont know about yet.

Boyd has never red-shirted so his transfer year wouldn't count. He'd still have two years of eligiblity.

Before you guys close the door on Cory why don't you make sure he is gone for sure and don't take the word of some New Orleans football website or radio sportscaster. I nor anyone I know of has heard anything from Cory himself or the football team regarding him leaving. I for one would love to see him play for us this year.

Thanks Beeds for updating us. Maybe soon we will hear something more official from him or USC. It does look like he might be gone though according to that article. :(

Boyd Speaks
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Suspended running back Cory Boyd said today that he hasn't solidified his plans for next season. There has been plenty of speculation about his future including one report on NextLevelScouting.com claiming he was headed to Rutgers this fall. Reached on his cell phone this morning Boyd said that he hasn't even talked to some of the schools that he is rumored to be transferring to. He added that as far as he knows the door is still open for him to return to USC next season. He did not confirm or deny the Rutgers report, saying "I don’t know where half these rumors start.” He refused further comment and said as of now all his options are open. Boyd was suspended from the Gamecock football team last month for an undisclosed violation of team rules.

See? oh ye of little faith. just kidding. I'm sure Cory has to keep his options open in case he doesn't make it back on the team. We can't blame him for that.
