I've been getting most of my info from Olemsdave76, maybe you and Cianee can keep us updated on the process.

-From what Dave has told me, we have 2 companies bidding on constructing the 3rd largest HD jumbo-tron in the nation and Telesouth is paying for most of it so they can handle all the advertising. Once the winning bid is accepted, it will be constructed prior to football season this fall.

Keep us updated guys.

That's some good news Pike, actually the first I've heard of it. Me and some friends were actually talking about that a few days ago at the scrimmage, about how awesome it would be to get an upgrade. Glad to hear that it might be happening, if you find out anything else, plz post.

if you check out Brandt's blog on the Clarion Ledger website, he has some info from the horse's mouth, the Athletic Department itself.  it will be in the archive section.

I believe it's down to Daktronics and Capturion on who will build the video board.  Obviously I hope that Daktronics will build it since they have experience with large video boards (the Ole Miss one will be the second largest HD monitor behind Godzillatron at Texas).  But since Telesouth is footing the bill, it's very likely that Capturion will win the bid since it's a Mississippi company and undoubtedly will have the lowest bid.

Capturion did the work down in H'burg at USM, so they do have experience with this stuff.
Not sure their experience with HD, though, but as a wise man once said, everyone has to start somewhere.

I didn't know there was a spot for it in y'all's stadium.  Where are you going to put it?  You do realize that Nutt may have the same effect on Ole Miss as he did on Arkansas, he's the reason we upgraded our stadium from 55,000 or whatever it was to 75,000.

I think y'all just scooted the seats together. That is the tightest stadium I have ever been in!

It goes where the current one is.  Where else would it go?

That's laughable coming from someone in Fayetteville.

The video board has gone back to the bidding process on recommendation from the consultant brought in.  New bids will be unsealed on May 20.  This is not supposed to cause the video board's construction to be delayed into the season.
