Ha! Don't hold back buddy. You're in a safe place.

Few years ago dude could have had his very own forum on this board for folks to express their distaste.

He commits what amounts to a cardinal sin as far as most SEC fans are concerned; you can't be a fair-weather fan in the SEC... you live and die with your own colors on; none of this allying yourself with whoever's winning at the time.

Well, Finebaum was born in Memphis, and his alma mater is Tennessee; but he's sucked and stroked so much Tide tool over the years I wouldn't be shocked to learn he's been treated for throat cancer and carpal tunnel syndrome.

As a show host you expect some impartiality and objectivity; nobody wants to listen to an obnoxious homer for hours, but he went overboard the other way by being a homer for the local team that just happens to be his alma mater's arch-rival. Granted, his show was in B'ham, so he had to keep the locals happy to a certain extent; but his shameless sucking up while bashing his own school was kind of a disgrace.

And UT just took it in the rear like a champ by presenting him with an alumni award last year for excellence in his field... his field for the previous decade was running the Vols in the ground while praising their enemy.

That's when it really dawned on me that the academic part of a school's administration really doesn't follow what's going on in athletics very closely, except in terms of its revenue. Hell, when he later returned to UT to give some keynote speech, the next day I half expected to read that he'd been shot with a deer rifle.

It should be no surprise to you that the Vol fanbase would rather put Finebaum into a wood chipper than give him an award
