In all fairness, most here were saying similar things last year when we lost half of our starting Online. Manziel was going to be destroyed without them and we wouldn't be able to put up points. I heard that a lot.
the problem though is that Manziel is one of those rarities in college ball that doesn't come around very often!

Evans would have been the #2 to Ricky Seals-Jones. Not joking, an injury is the only thing that stopped him. If he is as much as 85% healed, he will be able to match Evans. Our defense was awful, and as pointed out, especially against Duke. We lost our top tackler and best young DL. Before the bowl game. We were starting 3 fish and a SO in the defensive front, and playing something like 8 fish at one point. All of them have had a year to grow and learn. They can't get worse.
Again, ask Florida if Sumlin can get a young unknown QB ready to play in the SEC. Especially when you have the potential for a top 3 running back stable. I would put us at just outside of top 5 currently, based on limited usage.
hill is not Manziel though, and most of you ATM fans expect him to come out and be just as good!

The defense was always in doubt, and will remain that way until proven otherwise. Sherman left us with plenty of talent on the offense, but limited talent on the defense. Sumlin has worked like a demon to change that without giving up the offensive firepower, but most of those players are just now redshirt sophomores or juniors this year, and Sumlin's recruits are just sophomores and RS fish this year. That first class was still heavily Sherman's, all O. I am not predicting a sudden jump to #1, but a respectable improvement to the 60's would be a load for most teams to handle if our offense stays in the top 3 of the SEC. Which I think it will.
top 3? Really? Good luck with the homerisms!
