This game will be closer than the experts think (in my Lee Corso voice, and I don't even like him).  Auburn by 10 to 14 points IMO.

Other than the absurd Vegas spread nobody is expecting this game not to be close.

Well, there are 8 voters in the poll who seem to think different, and over half (4 of 7) of the so called experts on cbssports.com (see link below) think Auburn will cover the 21.5 point spread.  And they may be right.  Who knows.  I've definitely been wrong before.  Just ask my wife...................

I think Gussie is going to throw it around a bit.  Johnson is a lot more cerebral than Marshall I think and the team wants to pass the ball around more this season.  I'm not sure if Johnson will play 3 possessions or more, but I don't think he has Marshall's athletic ability and will be looking to pass.  I think both Arkansas and Auburn will attempt to make the other team throw.

I'm thinking 23-17 Auburn.
Agree. Auburn finally has more than one weapon at WR and they're going to use them. I think we'll see at least one long TD pass from Auburn. Long being 40 yards or more. We're eventually going to come up and try to play man coverage and we're going to get beat at least once.

It's too early in the season for these types of games. Who the hell knows what either team will look like.

I'm just glad we are only days away from the game!

The huge point spread is to get Ark. backers to bet......Vegas works off spiff which means they don't really care which team wins. They only want the most wagered that they can get.

Here is one thing to think about: covering the spread will require Arkansas to play above their heads and Auburn to underperform, both of which I expect to a degree. But the Hogs are 4-5 busted plays away from getting spanked. So maybe 20 isn't all that crazy.

20 point spread in a week 1 conference rivalry with the backup QB is asking way too much

I agree. This early in the season both teams will have some settling-in to do. Both teams will make mistakes. I think the very fact that this is the first game of the season for both makes this a wildcard. I wouldn't bet any real money on this one...

I feel the same way. Could be a nail biter until late in the 4th, or everything could go wrong on the road and we lose by 20+. I just don't know what to think about this one. I do think we'll be able to move the ball effectively. They aren't going to be able to put 9 in the box against us like everyone was able to last year.

If Hunter Henry has a big game we keep it close, maybe more.

May the bridges I burn light the way.

I think he will, and the biggest reason for it will be a legit second TE and better receivers. Last year teams were able to take Henry out of games by using a linebacker or corner on him with a safety over the top. AJ Derby is going to be a very good TE for us and they will be on the field at the same time a lot this year.

we also have a couple deep threats at WR that we didn't last season.

Actually, we won 3. And last year means exactly Posted Image when we're talking about this year. Or did you learn nothing from 2012?

Maybe you missed the word "almost" in my post?

I know that New Years allow for new expectations, but we'll be sure to remind Arkanlawls on Saturday where their season will end up.

Like yours the year before?

See above.

Also... Why does everyone keep talking about 2012 as if there wasn't a strike that year?

They interviewed an Arkansas media member on sportscall this afternoon and he talked about strengths and weakness indicating that Arkansas had a lot of top talent to replace on one side of their defensive front.  If Auburn exploits that and gets their luck going the spread may approach 3 scores.
