I will temper my expectations until we  play a  real team in the Gators.....these cupcakes just don't give me a good gauge to go by.....I mean anybody can look good against these teams. I've got to see real competition. ....I do see radical improvement in team speed and talent,  but aside from RB, QB, DE and WR our depth isn't there yet at all positions.
I'm surprised how good our WRs are playing. Maybe Towles is just making them look good but that was one of our weakest positions lat year.

This was obviously not the best competition, but the Cats did some nice things on both sides of the ball. D was leaky at times but did force some turnovers, decent pressure at times, against a veteran o line. (if utm had a strength, it was their o line).

All in all, I'm pretty well pleased. I'm glad the schedule incrementally ramps up the competition level....gives our guys a chance to make plays and gain confidence, and make some mistakes without them being too costly.

Haven't seen the stats yet, curious about number of plays we got off. Still not feeling like we're running at the tempo Neal wants.

Good game Cats!

Plenty to learn from in the tape room, but hard to complain about the performance too much.  My biggest takeaway was the number of "wow plays" we had. OVC team or not, we just didn't have any of that explosiveness on either side of the ball the last couple of seasons in ANY game.  I think its obvious we've improved, how much remains to be seen. Having Towles instead of Whitlow is certainly a step in the right direction.
