I think unless Dylan Thompson comes out throwing INTs like Tommy Beecher did a few years ago, the Gamecocks should roll in this one.  The teams we struggle most with are those with stout defenses - something A&M does not have.

I do have respect for Kevin Sumlin and his ability to score points with just about any personnel so I don't think the new QB will be a total inept in terms of moving the ball and scoring some points but it seems to me, we'll likely see us do what we've done to Clemson in recent years and just not let them have the ball.  I see us grinding the ball with a gameplan dominated by the running game and passing when matchups/situation calls for it...and I really expect Dylan Thompson will be solid.

I think USC will dominate the field position battle as well so A&M will have long fields to deal with often and with a new, young QB....on the road?  I don't see us losing this one...in fact, I don't think it'll be close.

USC - 37
A&M - 21

I love that no one counts on us to use the 4 returning starters on the O Line and the 3 top flight running backs to take the load off of our new QB and grind some clock ourselves.  I agree that it might not be enough, but I don't really see a three score blow out unless both of our new QBs turn out to be very highly overrated.

Are those the ones with the holes in 'em? That's what I use when I'm on the greens and I keep getting these strange looks.

11 anonymous nobodies.  We have no where to go but up.

That's usually just another way of saying "hopefully we'll be a little better". And a little better than horrible is still pretty bad.

You sound like a Clemson fan....y'all talk about offense and these underrated players we're not giving enough credit for but in the end, y'all don't have the defense to give the offense back consistently enough to keep up, all things being equal.  Now, if we start putting the ball on the ground 4 times a half or throw 5 INTs, that obviously changes things but we have the senior QB with quite a bit of SEC and bowl game experience as well as experience in the RB corps that y'all just don't have so I'd be shocked if we lose even the turnover battle at home.  I really think y'all are in for a rude awakening.

Let me get this straight. We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and will be fined for if we don't, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that hasn't read it but exempts itself from it, signed by a president who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese and financed by a country that's broke.

What could possibly go wrong?

Seriously, I've yet to hear a satisfying answer for this: Why doesn't Gay&M have cheerleaders?

Me too.  As a matter of fact, I've decided not to pull for them is this game.  Anyone with me?

I wanna say the Cocks pull away late in this one, but you never know about those Aggies these days. Regardless they're going to give the Cocks all they can handle, really take it to them.

High scoring game, won't look like an SEC affair?

I got a question. The only loss spur ever took in an opening game was against USC. How does he avenge that loss?

You misunderstand me.  I expect we will be outscored in this one. Just not a three or more score, over-by-the-half, we-must-commit-seppuku beating that everyone else is predicting.  SC is in a tough spot:

If they do whip up on us, everyone else was expecting it, so not much changes => Slight bump for SC, Slight drop for A&M.

If it is close, it becomes "Oh wow, SC is overrated" and we get => Slight drop for SC, slight bump for A&M on the moral victory side.

Last, some how our freshman defenders are possessed by the ghosts of Wreaking Crews past, we get => Huge drop for SC, and huge bump for A&M.

Since most Aggies have no expectations to win it all (and rightly so - this year), I don't really see a huge down side in saying it should be an exiting close game.   I am not saying that we run away with it because it will just be a shoot out, which we have been losing lately.  I just hear sooooooo much about the SC ground game.  Great.  We have some good running backs as well, and I think you will get a surprise.  Our offensive will keep us in the game, if only the defense can make a stop or two to get us over the top will be a common statement during games this year.
