I will cunt punt the first person that calls him a selfish coward who took the easy way out.  If you haven't lived with that kind of darkness on your back,  you have no idea what kind of mountain of courage he had to muster every day to fight it for 30 years.  It sounds like he won the battle most days, but it destroyed his defenses yesterday.

If you're hurting, get some real help.  If you're not hurting, check on those around you, even if everything seems to be okay.  Get to know them.  Learn their struggles.

“If you know someone who’s depressed, please resolve never to ask them why. Depression isn’t a straightforward response to a bad situation; depression just is, like the weather.

Try to understand the blackness, lethargy, hopelessness, and loneliness they’re going through. Be there for them when they come through the other side. It’s hard to be a friend to someone who’s depressed, but it is one of the kindest, noblest, and best things you will ever do.”

-Stephen Fry

I'll hold'em for you
"Whenever I see those crimson jerseys and crimson helmets, I feel humbled to have played football for Alabama. Other players in the NFL talk to me about their schools and their traditions. I just smile knowing the immense love Alabama fans have for our school and its football program. I'm proud to be a part of that Crimson Tide heritage."

Celebrity deaths don't affect me.
Had to cut his Gator Growl performance short because it was too profane.

Haha, usually I'm very aware when I post/say anything that is offensive or harsh.

His mom was from Jackson, MS.  I had no idea.
I'm certain the national media is relieved. They can kiss State's ass and go back to the old "Ole Miss is Waycist" narrative. Meanwhile I hope Gameday has fun in Morgantown. Look out for burning couches!

Unfortunately, your thoughts on this are ignorant and dangerous.  Robin Williams succumbed to a disease.  If someone died of cancer, you wouldn't say that it tarnished their life or career.

Social stigma about mental illness is a serious problem in our culture and needs to end.  Too many people are afraid or ashamed to seek help because of comments like yours.

I think the opposing argument is that getting prescribed anti-depressants is easier than actually getting the doctor's appointment.
Everyone is on them.

Good point. And men are the hardest to get to seek treatment because they tend to think they can "tough it out." It's a freaking chemical imbalance, and you can't fix it by ignoring it any more than you could cure your pneumonia by saying I'm tougher than this sickness. Nothing is going to tarnish the fact that even though he had his own demons to deal with, he brought joy to so many lives.

I agree that antidepressants are overprescribed.  But that doesn't mean there aren't a ton of people out there who need help but aren't getting it.

Oh, I get that for sure.
But for instance, I don't know anyone who uses antidepressants. Or at least I don't know about it.
So I could see where some people don't take it seriously.

Depression isn't a joke.  I went through a long bout of it for 4-5 years.  Some pretty dark times, but I also didn't want anyone feeling sorry for me either.  I still will have occasional rough patches but usually if I preoccupy myself with something else positive like exercise/music/sports I'm OK. Couldn't imagine struggling with it for 30+ years.
