sucks to suck!

http://collegefootba...ots-at-directv/

DirecTV became the last major hurdle for the SEC Network to clear before it launches next week, and the powers that be at the negotiating table managed to get a deal done with some time to spare. Standing on the sideline wondering where the same will to negotiate can be found is Pac-12 commissionerLarry Scott. The visionary in charge of expanding the Pac-12 brand has done some great things with the conference since he took over in the position, but a deal with DirecTV continues to elude him and the Pac-12 Network. Ater witnessing the deal come together between DirecTV and the SEC Network, Scott seems to be a bit agitated.

“We’ve been disappointed that DirecTV has been willing to negotiate with ESPN for the SEC Network but not Pac-12,” Scott said in a story by the Los Angeles Times. “It is certainly not consistent with them saying they care about what the consumer wants.”

But wait, there’s more!

“It appears this is an example of DirecTV being willing only to deal with big conglomerates who have muscle and leverage beyond the interest of consumers,” Scott said.

The SEC Network was set up in partnership with ESPN and the Disney Company that owns ESPN. The Pac-12 Network lacks that kind of support and power of course, giving the SEC Network a more likely chance to build up a potential audience reach before launching, unlike with the Pac-12 Network or even the Big Ten Network. The SEC Network is scheduled to launch with an estimated potential customer reach over 90 million.

In a short answer....

The consumer WANTS the SEC Network. It's a national household brand that people want. DirecTV can sell more subscriptions using the SECN than the P12N.

No one gives a $%^# about the PAC-12. Why should the SEC be punished for excellent marketing and advertising of their brand?

Sounds like sour grapes to me.

Only 3 games I would ever give a Posted Image to watch in the Pac 12 is Oregon v Washington and USC v UCLA in football and then Zona v UCLA in basketball.  And since UCLA ain't Posted Image in basketball,  that last one is a stretch.

No one gives a Posted Image about your Pac 12 network. No one in the rest of the country is going to stay up to watch a game that starts at 10 o'clock at night and most people out west don't even care.

This.

Watching utah and oregon state is bad enough in the afternoon, but by the time you're full from other great football it's just plain awful. For a food analogy think about going in the kitchen and only having ramen noodles to eat...eah it'll do if you're hungry, but if you've been stuffing yourself all day there's no way you'll eat that stuff.

By the time the prime time game goes off I'm usually drunk as hell, and end up just rewatching highlights from earlier in the day. Highlights, recaps, and news on injuries are  much better than Pac 12 football that isn't in a prime time slot.

this is exactly how I feel at the end of a Saturday. I don't even care about the Pac-12. Oh another game is on? Yeah maybe I'll just watch sportscenter or a movie.

This story is reporting over the last 50 years of history. NO ONE has ever cared about the Pac-12. Their games dont start until almost midnight on the east coast. No one watches the Pac-12 and never has because of this.
