2. Alabama

OC: Lane Kiffin (--)
DC: Kirby Smart (6 years)

"Smart has been a hot head-coaching name for half a decade now and he continues to turn down overtures to stay with Nick Saban. His defenses are among the nation’s best every year he’s been inTuscaloosa. Kiffin, for all of his faults, is overqualified to be “just” an offensive coordinator. As long as he isn’t handling CEO duties — which he has struggled with in the past — Kiffin could be one of the nation’s top offensive minds in 2014. There is no questioning his ability to coach quarterbacks and develop a passing game."

Either very North, or very South. I don't think there will be any in-between. And won't take long to determine which way.

And Saban is too busy with the DBs to be a DC. My Grandson has attended his camp the last two years. Saban is always with the DBs.

Bobo has proven himself well, and Pruitt has tons of potential.

"I didn't come to Alabama to win 10 games a year and be a contender. I came here to win championships, Conference Championships, and National Championships. I love it here because that's not just what I want, but what this fan base expects." -Alabama Head Football Coach Nick Saban

UGA 5

Surprised since Pruitt is new to UGA

OC: Mike Bobo (8 years)
DC: Jeremy Pruitt (--)

Pruitt comes to Athens after winning two national titles as the defensive backs coach at Alabama in 2011 and 2012. Then he won a national title last year as the defensive coordinator atFlorida State. Now, he takes over a Dawgs defense with loads of talent and upside. Bobo has had some tough(er) seasons but largely has produced efficient and effective offenses over a long period of time in the SEC. Georgia has averaged 6.4 yards per play over the last six seasons — which would’ve ranked 22nd nationally last fall.

Kiffin isn't really a question mark, it's the play calling in pressure situations that I want to see. Saban will ultimately make the call but his play choice is crucial.

I'm looking for whether he can get into good play-calling rhythms. W/ McIlwain, there were games where he had the opposing DC so messed up it was almost sad to watch. That rarely happened w/ Nuss.

Pruitt is the only one with 3 straight NC rings. If Smart was back in Athens, then Pruitt would be in Tuscaloosa.

Clemson's issues aren't with the coordinators.  It's their head coach that is an idiot.

And how UGA can be on that list, when their defense coordinator has never called defensive plays in the SEC and the other has half of his fan base trying to run him out, is beyond me.
