My favorite memory of 2007 is that our awkwardly backing into the SECCG cost Richt his best shot at the title.

If life was fair, a decent man like Richt would have a title and a testicle like Saban would not

If only we were Alabama..... could have gotten a second chance

Richt is a fine human being but the UGA fans are too schitty to ever win anything significant.  Their heads would get so big that they would blow up.
Says the LSUx fan.

Short answer:

No

I have to agree. I just don't see Richt winning a title. Don't get me wrong, he's a great coach and a great person. I really can't explain it. Just a gut feeling.

I'm not saying I think he will for sure or anything, but the people who say with any certainty that he WON'T have no basis whatsoever for that claim. He was EXTREMELY close to winning both the SEC and the NCG just two years ago, and losing that game was not due to coaching. I'm not claiming a moral victory there or anything, but its not like his coaching kept him out of it that year and you only need one example.

Regardless of what anyone says, a certain amount of luck is needed. Alabama 2011..... Auburn 2013 (nobody can tell me that wasn't at the very least 50% luck)

Edit: Again, not saying I think he will or won't, I just think its stupid to say its completely out of the picture, or even all that unlikely

People saying Richt will never win one are just being silly... The man has been closer and more consistent than most of the coaches in the conference.

Given an infinite number of years I think Richt wins one at UGA before Spurs wins one at USC.

Richt is a damn good human being and a good coach....not great...not elite. He is more reserved in his decision making.

Example 4th and 1 in the SECCG vs Bama. Gurley was averaging close to 5 yard a carry and he chose to punt. The next drive Bama burns us deep for 6.

I don't see Richt taking Georgia to the Natty unless the roster gets filled with studs who need very little coaching, or an unstoppable force on offense. Ex Cam, Teblow, Winston.... someone who is gonna score no matter what defense, what adversity they face.

Does Georgia have that player...probably not. I dont even hope for a Natty right now. Im hoping for an improved defensive scheme from an improved defense staff.

But in all seriousness Mark Richt will never win the SEC again let alone a national championship. He's laid a good foundation for the next guy if it's a good hire though. I wouldn't be shocked to see Pruitt inherit the job if he sticks around long enough.

I think its unspoken that Bobo is next. Id be fine with Pruitt though

I mean the protected thread. A lot of you have intelligent comments but then there are the other ones.

Unfortunately for us "close" just doesn't count.
