RB Joe Mixon suspended from team

By Jake Trotter | ESPN.com

Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon has been suspended from the team as police investigate allegations that he punched a woman during an altercation in Norman last week.

"Joe Mixon is not reporting for team activities at this time," a school spokesman said in a statement Wednesday. "We will continue to monitor the situation."

Mixon has not been charged with any crimes. But an Oklahoma female student claims that Mixon punched her, breaking four bones in her face.

Mixon met with police investigators Monday, but his attorney has maintained that Mixon "has done nothing wrong."
Mixon, a native of Oakley, Calif., was the top-rated signee in Oklahoma's most recent recruiting class.

The Sooners open fall camp Thursday.

From what a coach said he doesn't even want to be on the team. Kid is stupid and will regret this for the next 50 years. Could make millions but he lacks the desire to.

Whoo. It doesn't make the OU game winnable but still.

You can't come back from that.  As a hulking running back your response is to punch some woman coming at you in the face?  Totally unacceptable/indefensible. It doesn't matter what her or his story is.

Yep, that pretty much ended during cave man days. No room on earth for those actions.

Not backing Mixon, but the lady called him the N word and spit in his face. The only thing that would warrant this response from Mixon is if the girl would of pulled a knife or gun on him.

The ONLY way I can see him staying at OU is if this comes out to be some sort of self defense, but with as many bones as are allegedly broke in her face, there is no way he can do that with 1 punch.  It would be a stretch if his lawyer can pull it off as self defense.

Norman PD have the security tape and said they will present their findings to the DA end of next week.

My thoughts: he will never play a down at OU.

I've considered what if this were a Bama player and I just didn't want to think about it.  It sucks.  Glass houses.  We like to think that it'd never happen here.  I do think a big guy could break several bones/nose of a woman's nose/face with one punch, but it had to be a hard deliberate punch, not a glancing blow to push her away.

WTF was she thinking anyway?  I would not antagonize any Div 1 ball player.  They are all huge and a lot of them are meat heads.

The "victim" has decided not to talk to the police anymore regarding this situation. DA will likely bring an aggravated assault charge against Mixon. That appears to be all since the lady isn't talking now and security tape was inconclusive.

more than likely let the "team" vote on whether he can come back

The leading tackler/linebacker also is suspended for the season because of a sexual assault incident.

Damn...no petty moped charges in Norman, when they go they go hard. Beating women and raping them. That's messed up.
